i use mine to check how the truck acts on road since it's still a new thing for me to drive a fourby

That's why when you get close you hold a nikko pen in your hand and as you feel the wheels leave the ground you mark the tiltmeter just as it's going over for future reference.

YER Great, ive found i drive every where just that much better with a nikko in my hand.
Trust me it wont do you any good, if you must have one, buy the cheapest one you can find then you wont feel youve waisted money when youve got back on the level and realised you didnt look at it.

not bad but there will be added weight on that side next time. Bog is fairly light tho i supose.

The only thing I have heard they are usefull for is if you sleep in/on your fourby you can get it levelled up before you park for the night.

not even much use for that unless you get a realy sensitve one but they tend to swing like a monkeys nuts when you get on a roughish track.
Try one of those little spirrit levels, tape or blue tac it to the dash.
Once more i doubt you will even look at it in time and like already mentioned " Do you know when your trucks going over?"

I like the weghted string Idea however to make it a bit more bling. just so you can see the angle by a 2 dollar protractor from the newsagent and attach it to your roof so that weighted string reads 0 degrees. (am I blind or does my keyboard not have a degrees symbol button?) this will show your your angle. Now measure the string so that at about 80 degrees the weight hits you in the head. thisway you will know your going over.

Well we have warning indicators when we are low on oil, over temperature, brakes failing, ignition failing, low on fuel, traction contol failing, in the red on a tacho, etc...

I know all the tilt meters are pretty crap but cant anyone see value in something which could help you avoid rolling over?
We are not all telepathically in tune with the our vehicles and when things are happening fast then there is not much you can do, but I would think there is SOME value in a warning system?

One reason we like offroading is to get the heart pounding - but how many of us (amateurs) can really be sure how far we can go before its too far?

I've been told (by somebody I have no reason to doubt ) that Pajeros are still stable at 35 degrees. So I figure that (once I fix mine ) I'll stop when I get to 35 degrees, and consider my options.

Anything less than 35 degrees, I'll rely on the power of positive thinking.

I have found that when the seast cover is 3.5 inches up the side of the seat it means my butt cheeks are that tightly clecnch there is a good chance I ame going over. (this may varey depending on the amount of beer consumed)

just save the money and put it towrds and exo, this way you won't care too much about rolling over
