pro comp springs

Post by lexi »

Hi guys
Tried search but no luck. Going to replace springs on 94 GQ TD42. All I can really get in uk at a decent price are Pro Comp with a 2 inch lift. Firstly I have new but standard KYB shocks which I am reluctant to replace. Will they take the increase in ride height and also will anything else need to be modded ie brake flexis or gearbox packers. It`s an auto box.
Many Thanks
Alex

First of all is your truck a SWB or LWB if it is a LWB you wont need to to do anything once your 50mm springs go in , your brakelines and castor angle will not be efficted by the lift, you can go 3 inch in a GQ and only castor becomes slightly noticable.

If you have a SWB it is only rear tailshft angle can be a problem(Vibration), which can be corrected by Gearbox spacers Approx 12-14mm.
There if no formular for the vibration , every shorty seems to be different.

Castor angle will be effected from 50mm lift. The Castor angle is altered from any lift if u understand what it actally is!!! The question is how much incorrect castor angle can u put up with??

And yes there is a formula for the Tailshaft vibration... its due to the pinion angle in the two universal joints of the tailshaft not being equal (as they are not cv joints) they speed up and slow down through out one full rotation. So if the input (transfer) and output (diff) are parallel then you should get no vibration. Some people do use spacers but unless over 4'' then this is a bad option as it reduces ramp over angle.

hope this clarifies a few things
