Hilux Clutch Problem??

Post by macklux83 »

Gday everyone,
I have an 83 hilux and believe that the clutch may be on its way out, whenever i shift down a gear as soon as i let the clutch out there is a grinding/rattling noise, however if i let the car slow itself down without shifting gears it does not occur. It has been using a bit of fluid and does need to be topped up which i am about to do but i am not sure why it is using so much fluid.
any help would be appreciated
cheers
rob

Check your slave cylinder for leaks buy seperating the rubber boot from the slave housing if fluid comes out bingo fawked slave cylinder

Also check the fire wall both sides to make sure its not the master cyl leaking of course around the master cyl area

Had the same problem - r00ted master and slave cylinders. Go to repco, brand new slave is around $30, and master is $54... the rebuild kits are like 3/4 price of brand new ones.
Cheers,
Dan.
