nivara gearbox ?

Post by Rotazuk »

Hi
Does anyone know if the inernals of a 2.3 d nivara gearbox are the same as some 2wd gearbox's ? Problem I have is fitting a ca18de into an offroader ( engine out of a silvia ). I have read that some box's can be split and the front (incl bellhousing ) can be swapped amoungst 2wd box's . Hope this can be done between the 2wd and 4wd also .

More wishfull thinking than anything else I guess . From photo's they look very similar at the split though .

Cheers
Chris

To answer my own question here and just for info if anyone was to ask .
I have split the gearbox and a ca18 bellhousing bolts right up . This also means a sr20 will bolt up also . And I suspect that the rb series will also do the same .

For us here in Oz it'd be a strange swap unless you get a ca18DET or SR20DET.

The starting engine is a 2.4 after all, but I suppose an SR20 would probably be similar power.

Be more interested in knowing if a VG20T would fit.
