leaf spring sag
Ok this what happened on my 98 hilux single cab tray back, ifs, driving along with about a half tonne (maybe more) of stuff on, for the tip, went over some good rough pot holes on the way in and heard a bloody great bang come from the rear end, didn't think much about it until I noticed when I got home the drivers side rear had dropped almost 2', the first thing I thought was a broken leaf spring (which wouldn't surprise me) but after having a good look at the leaf's there was none broken, I've had an extra leaf on both sides put in some time ago but everything looks normal, what do you guys reckon, I must say when I go bush she has a good load on but this has me stumped, could it be some sort of pre-stress thing, any ideas guys and should I look at new springs or get them reset..thanks....Les
spring
agree with the other guys-take them out and sit them side by side and look for any damage-similar thing happened to me-I had bent 2 springs in the pack-had them re sprung but only lasted a short time before they sagged again-ended up re building the pack added 2 extra leaves-OK so far.
