Goodyear wrangler MTR's

MTR's air down really well and are a good all round tyre and they look aggressive . Have a look at the Mickey Thompson's Baja claw Radials. I found these to grip really well on the road, better than MTR's. The Mickey Thompson also grip better off road except maybe on sideways slopes especially in the mud, don't know about rock comparison probably pretty close. Mickey Thompsons have a vibration as you come to a stop but they look very aggressive and I would put my money on them.
If anybody is interested I have for sale 5X33inchX15inch MTR wranglers with rims with a 28mm offset. There is 50% tread and can orgainize freight. At the moment I have $600 on them. SOLD

heaps of people are using them up here cause they stick to rocks and road and they work on sand well ... gravel roads are good
i even drove from townsville to bris to compete on them and then drove back to townsville on 35z
they behave really well
even have an instance where 35 inch mtrs won on a hill climb vs 37" claws

I've got two sets 33's and 35's, 33's have worn really well considering. done about 40 to 50 thousand km of on and of road. I tore the side wall out of one on the rocks when they were two weeks old. had a mate at a tyre shop done a major repair joby.been pretty happy though apart from that and Cooper mt's goin round me in the mud. As for the 35's got two words Low pressure!

when i got my 285 16s fitted the fools couldnt balance them so i had them balanced on the car and are great
One cape york trip a heap of day runs/weekend park trips rotate at good intervals and have had no problems Half worn with over 40000 on them BUT shyt in the mud but as good allrounder ill get them again
I dont notice the noise at all. Maybe i should tell my kids to shut up so i can hear them

I've done 20k on them in the zook (31/10.5) found them to handle realy well on the road i swear i can get my rear tyres off the ground if i break realy hard and have found they work good on the rocks and gravel in the dry though seem to slip abit in the wet and mud. As for sand ive never been happy with them even at 5psi they dont seem as good as my old bald stockers were in the boggy stuff though keep in mind i dont have any gear reduction's so my gearing is .
.....I would like something slightly more aggressive, but not really noisey on the road.
I reckon tyre noise would be the least of your noise concerns in a Deafener
Seriously, I can't hear the BFG muddies over the rest of the cacophony. I really wanted MT/R's, but they aren't available in 255/85.

ryano at fourbies just organised me some replacement rubber for a damaged claw.... tread on radials looks very slightly different to the tyres bought probly 18 mnths ago?.......
i got the tour of the place...very impressive and also checked out the new cooper muddy..... impressive looking tyre and seems to be getting a great wrapp aorund the place for performance also......... picture the tread pattern of the mtr and round it a bit ........ poor description but you'll see what i mean....

i myself have had the MTR in both 33" and now the 35" i have to say, mud is their only downside, but evrywhere else, they are awsome,
i run the 35's on my GQ and, i couldnt bring myself to sell the 33's that are half worn so i put em on my stock MQ soon to be comp car, the 33's are noisier, but i think they get noisier with age,

At the moment am having problems with my wheel alignment the truck was at ARB all day because a tyre shop told me that its the suspension, however ARB say that the MTR's have a tendancy to wear un-even (even though mine look great)
So i'm taking the patrol to wear the tyres were fitted and they will have go at fine tuning this. i have 315/75/16 35's old coin.
i personally think the tyres are great but have no idea whats going at the moment dont know if its the LTR's or the MTR's now

Can anyone tell me how well MTR 37s would go on an 8 inch rim?
I have 35s, but if my truck develops 37 may fit, unless law men pick me too much...

Most manufacturers recommend 8.5 - 11" rims for the 37x12.50R15 (Same story for the 35x12.50R15).
A 10" would be more ideal, and look better aswell, but you'd get away with them on an 8" rim.
Got some in stock if you want the 37". Cheap too!!!

the warranty on Cooper's aren't worth a pinch of poop, as in no warranty if you don't live in a capital city, don't take them back to the dealer you bought off for rotation/balancing every X number of k's @ $, etc.
Was really surprised at how well the ST's self clean when you get a bit of wheel spin going in the black muck that is prevalent around here, 'though, especially for such a closed tread pattern.

Well I had 33 mtr’s on my zook and I was very impressed. Found them awesome in the sand 25psi, the car just seemed to float over it. In the rocks 4 psi they were very grippy. Mud they sucked, but mud isn’t everything.

I've had a couple of 235 MTR's in the shed for a year & a half I got em with the old HJ47 ute I've got. I've had some real cheap Indian 12 ply rag tyres on the HJ since I got it & when they wore out I bought a couple more MTR's & put them on with the others I already had.
The old HJ isn't the best to drive at any time but I thought I was behind the wheel of a Rolla with the MTR's on, however it is a bit of a pity all roads around aren't bitumen because the MTR's are absolutely crap on the loose gravelly roads up here. I felt more in control at twice the speed on gravel roads with the old rag tyres then I'd be game to go with the MTR's.

33's seem the way to go on a zook though my 31's are on 7" rims and i think thats my problem with them not bogging down at low psi? anyway after my mtr's wear out and i put my yj springs on i think ill go simex's they seem to be to way to go on any 4x4.
