97 TJ ENGINE CUTTING OUT
Can somebody help me please?
Out of nowhere my jeep started idling erratically. The revs drop to about 500rpm. Response is still there if i rev. Will feel like its choking when i'm driving. Everything looks normal except for exhause fumes. They sort of look like its running rich.

I would be looking at the TPS (throttle position sensore) as the first culprit.
Can you tell us if you did any work under the bonnet, or washed it, or anything else that might of knocked a sensor.
More info would be good.
Otherwise just drive it into the dealer as it has OBDII and they can diagnose issues with their computer. Only takes em two minutes
cheers

It blew a bottom radiator hose but water didn't go anywhere near the TPS.
What do u reckon about the catallitic converter deteriorating inside?
I've heard of this happening to other cars, it blocks up.
It could be possible.
You can check that with the jeep turned off, get under there and thump it with your hand. you will here all the stuff in there rattle if the material in the cat has broken up. General silence (apart from the thump) if it is clear.
Hard to diagnose without being there I'm afraid.
I would also take the intake hose off the top off the throttle body and see if it helps. Just means you can check if it is intake at all.
sorry i am not much help...
