HMMM its very dodgy, its not hard to knock them. it'll only take about an hour. i'll get pics of mine tonight

well what i was thinking cause the shock mount on the back is on the U bolt plate that if i flipp it and swap the plates over left to right than the mounts will be in the same position but a good couple of intches high longer travel for the shocks

I intially did the same thing back i wasn't happy with it. the shocks weren't in an effective angle the plate didn't sit right on the springpack

Instead of forking out $150 odd for the U-Bolt Flip kit from Superior or Snake, Is there a cheaper option?

Like is there a standard U-bolt that will do the job and then just drill some holes in a flat steel plate - I'm not sure if the U-Bolt has to have a rating for strength?
Couldn't you use UBolts from the rears of vehicles that have leafsprings under the axles (instead of over) their U-bolts would be rounded at the end as long as the axlehousing width was close to the hilux's?

Anyone know which/where to get these U-Bolts and how much?

swear ive seen u bolts exactly the same as the ones that snake sell in my local metal shop for under 25 bucks.. spose tho by the time u put nuts on them and make up some plates your not far off the 150 for the kit.

You can buy the U-bolts on their own, cut flat plates out of steel etc.

Problem 1. You need high tensile U bolts, they cost more than regular U bolts. Most spring places will be able to help you, some bolt shops also

Problem 2. The Snake, Superior etc spring plates have bent ends to stop the plate distorting when you tighten the bolts. Not many people have access to a bender that is capable of bending 8-10mm plate without heating.

I also looked at making my own, getting a mate in an engineering shop to bend the plates. It didn't work out much cheaper, so i just ordered them off the shelf.

U-bolts are supposedly a "one use only product". By the book you should throw out u bolts when you do a spring swap and put new ones in anyway.

Must admit i've never done this, but have been told the sme thing by a few others.

i wanted to do this so i could save some money and use the standard shock mounts on the back just havent had time to do it and need longer shocks now anyway
