Supercharged TD42's.

Post by Camshaft1 »

Have read posts on this topic before but had never taken much notice due to my car was always going to be turboe'd. but as prices for turbo's are very high and im in the mood for tinkering i thought i'd ask about superchargers. Was it toyota crown blowers people have used before? Is anybody running one now that is reliable but also fairly cheap to build. im willing to relocate power steering pumps and things and make brakets and bits and peices to fit it. Any help or ideas appreciated.

Cam, check this thread out, great thread on this topic. Marko on here was running it with good results apparently. Have been looking at this myself. The one oyu're looking for is an SC14 supercharger off a Toyota Supra, can buy em from the motorshed in Geelong for approx $400 I think from memory. Anyway his install sounded pretty simple.

From memory they run approx 8pound of boost, depends on the pulley on the end of the blower, but the SC14 can't be spun too hard cos apparently they destroy themsleves if they go too hard, bearings shit themselves or something.

Hey Camo try Central wreckers in Ballarat. They had them at the swap meet for under $300.

Looked quite seriously at doing this myself. Have all bits on hand, just need to do some machining to fit up pulleys. Decided against after reading some other article comparing intake temps - superchargers were quite high and I was concerned about reliability.
However when I get back from travelling and nissan becomes official toy look out

Nah nothin yet pauly, am still workin on the tray!! Nah im losin slight interest on spending money on 4wds. I dont even have time to go 4wding these days! Might buy a machine or something. How many people on this site have hardcore 4wds but rarly go 4wding just because they dont have time? Sounds like a possible post for chit chat i think.......

As soon as I go to ring the kids will start screaming, I'll get put on hold, another call will come in and then when I get answered eventually, the "sales" person will adopt a " well, when are you going to order" type attitude.

Less grief, just ask online :finger: :finger: :finger: :D :D

Why else does Outerlimits exist other than to reduce the environmental damage caused by nasty phone calls   :finger: :finger:

that looks really wild and professional kit but looks very very expensive also.
I cant imagine something like this for under 6 grand!!!???

Is it worth it over just a well set up turbo?
