40 rear wheel carrier adjustment

Post by shorty_f0rty »

hey y'all..

just wondering if there are any recommendations on how to tighten the bottom pivot of the rear wheel carrier where it mounts to the tub..? this has a bit of play in it at the moment and its only getting worse, especially witha 33 on it.

also the center pin for the latch is close to giving way, i think one end is flared but its getting more and more worn..

just wondering if anyone had any advice to offer on tightening this up and (har har!) reducing the rattles!

longshot I know!

I have tried fitting bump stops to put pressure on the bar when latching, but I found the best thing is to move the U shaped rubber/metal thing up so that when you close it you have to force it up which takes up the slack in the bottom pivot

hmm.. is there no way to bash/screw the pin in further? it was pretty tight when i first got it 18 months ago.

moving the bumpstop sounds like the go but i figure it'll end up the same over a period of time again anyway..

Ditto above.... you'd be amazed at how much dif some new bushes make. A bugger getting those pins out though!
