Ball joint spacers

Post by greenhilux »

Ive got a question about ball joint spacers for an IFS lux. I am aware of where they go etc, but am i correct in saying that it will make the CV angle worse? i Cant see that it would improve it any.

Can someone set me straight please.

I believe with the spacers you also drop the rear of the diff to equalise the movement of the cv's. Will be looking at doing one in the near future, just have to measure how much movement there is in a cv before it binds.

If you have a reasonable lift the top wishbone is at a steep angle, tilting in the top of the swival and worsening the CV angle.
Fitting the spacer lifts the top arm, which effectivly makes it longer, pushing out the top of the swival and reducing the angle of the CV.
If you don't have enough lift , the camber angle of the front wheels goes extreme the opposite way with the spacer.
The spacer also reduces the angle on the top joint, reducing the chance of it breaking or "popping out"

No it doesn't, it pushes the lower arm down, which gives the height and allows for more downward travel than stock.
IFS 'luxes have the torsion bar attached to the Upper control arm, not the lower like other makes.
