Need help removing my oil filter bracket - Toyo Diesel

My surf is pissing out oil arounf the oil filter bracket (thingy). - 2L-TE engine

I have removed the turbo, air con, another couple of brackets, the exhaust manifold and all the bolts around the oil filter bracket.

I am ready with the new gasket

BUT I CAN"T GET THE DAMN THING OFF

There is a thing that looks vaguely like a bolt but it is so big I have no tools that fit and my multi grips can't grip it well enough to turn.

I think it has to come off - anyone got experience on this?

The bolt I am thinking has to come off is under where the oil filter usually screws on. Looking at it, the thread for the oil filter, the bolt\nut lookng thing are one unit. My 7/8 ring spanner is WAY too small to fit the bolt\nut looking part. Advice would be appreciated.

Did you degrease everything down because that nut you are trying to undo is screwd into the alloy housing(long alloy housing) that holds the oilcooler and water/coolant is behind it. There is a problem with the high pressure oil feed to the alternator they split and leak oil it is in the same area it has banjo bolts and eylets on the hose. Your problem didn't start after your last oil change did it cause u may have left the old oring off the filter there and it caused the leak.

I didn't degrease everything before this bout of mechanical work - but when I first saw the leak is was still clean and I could see where it was coming from.

I had the problem you describe after my last service - when I also replaced the crank and cam shaft seals.

I believe that the gasket around the oil filter bracket (which is definitely the source of the leak, was about to go and got pushed out when oil pressure returned to normal - after I replaced the crank and cam shaft seals.

My rear main seal leaks a little but I expext that also to 'blow out' when I finish this job and the oil pressure again returns to normal.

the RMS does not see any pressure unless you have a blockage in the crankcase ventilation plumbing.

The oil coolers are not known to be big leakers on those motors, they are far more likely to corrode internally with bad coolant and infect the oil with water. the cover comes of pretty easily in any case - I hope you've got it sorted by now!

I decided to hole off on getting the cover off. The problem is this huge bolt looking thing that I am 90% sure has to come off. I decided to just rip into it with a pair of multi-grips (since I have no tools that big) but before it budged I had to stop to prevent any damage.

A guy who works with my wife has offered to get me a tool that his other job has on hand for work on 4wds. I just have the measure the bolt.

Thanks for the info on the rms - hopefully it won't get any worse.
