GQ LWB tyre size information needed
GQ LWB tyre size information needed
Have a 1992 GQ Lwb TI. At the moment it is fitted with 31's on the standard white Nissan rims. Was wondering what the largest tyre size I can fit without fouling anything when the truck is fully flexed. Suspension is 2 inch over standard h/d coils.
Also any recommendations on good M/T type tyres would be great.
Thanks

If you are running standard white 15x7 sunraysia style rims then you are about at the limit with 31x10.5s. You might be OK with 32x11.5s but remember that you are then running a very unusual tyre for outback driving. It will be hard to replace if you need to do it somewhere like Tibooburra!
I would run landcruiser offset rims, and go to a 15x8, and get 33x12.5s. Ther are a bit more common. With 33s you will still get some rubbing on articulation and full compression, even with a 2" body lift. But only JUST.
Rims can be got for about $50 ea new and that would do the job for you.

Thanks fot that info. Any idea which model cruiser these rims come off? Frome memory 60 series and early 80 series cruisers had 15 inch rims.
thanks again

Get ROH brand 15x8s. They are just plain white. 16s are more expensive to get rubber for in big sizes. I can get a deal for you locally. Where are you located? PM me and I will see what I can do on Tuesday.
You might get lucky and find some second hand on the forum but for my price you are better to go new.

Yeah, interesting. I didn't think of that, but it is relevent. I am not running swaybars at the moment, and can rub at full compression with my huge lift in, and with only 33s on cruiser offset 15x8s.

just get rock hard spings if you that concerned about scrubbing then you flex less than a cox ridon.....nothing wrong with a bit of minor rubbing - just shows you where your money on springs went or get massive bumpstops but it defeats the purpuse of it.... or get spacers and get dot chasing you with a stick!!!
cut all sharp edges near bumpstops and a gentle tap on the inner skin to hide any rough edges and flex away....

Be carefull to check that the cruiser rim seats properly over the hub. There is a 2 mm difference in the diameter of the centre hole which causes the rim to sit rooster eye on series 1 GQ's. Saying that i had my crusier 15 x 10s rims machined at a local engineering shop for 80 bucks so they fit nice now
