Guys

Already have a maxi drive diff lock in the rear of my '85 County. Now considering the front.

Is Maxi the diff lock of choice for the front as well or are there better options ?

Front lockers break CV's and axles pretty quickly (easier than rear lockers break axles anyway) - so go with a set-up that has new axles as well as a diff head ( like the Maxidrive). Still places your CV's at risk so carry spares and avoid full lock and full right foot when the locker is in...

You could consider Haultech traction control in the front?
Easier on CV's and i hear it will be launched at tuff truck challenge so should be available soon.

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't the CV's on this particular model a lot stronger than the later models?

Yes the 110 county has the AEU2522 CV which is the strongest CV ever fitted to a Land Rover (besides the 101 forward control). If you only run 31-33" tyres and are careful when the front locker is engaged then they should hold up fine. Friends with 33-35" tyres and 4.4-5.2 V8's who drive hard break them occasionally but not very often.

Isuzu110 - as others have suggested I would go with the maxi-drive in the front. If you want to you could get the CV's modified by Haultech at the same time, but if you are only running 32's and the 110 is a daily driver then I wouldn't bother, just carry spares.

I would go maxi's. I have both front and rear and can't fault the lockers.

I just run the stock Rangie Cv's (83's have the original and stronger CV's as far as Rangie ones go) but like Ben mentioned the 110 County ones are as strong as you can get regarding LR stuff.

I only run 32's and try not to get too caried away with the right foot and they have been fine.
