GQ Carby Mod for offroad

Hi all,

My tb42 carby keeps stalling on steep hills offroad, i have heard you can change a few of the hoses around and it stops this from happening. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

A few years ago when I had my Petrol carby GQ all I did was lower float to it s proper lowest setting.

dont know if its still on 4wd monthly as i havent read it in a while, but there used to be a place that would sell offroad carbys for around $600
works on 45 degree angles etc. I had the same problem with my pathfinder, had to play around with the bowl and drill some holes here and there, so i didnt bother. Dont know if it will be as easy as changing some hoses around.

Have spoken to a few carby places in Brisbane and they reckon the nissan carby is pretty good anyway so don't waste the money on an aftermarket offroad one. My carby works fine at 45 degrees with the revs up, its past that were it starts to cause problems. BTW I have a shorty, so thats how I know it works till about 45 degrees Have heard that some early models got an offroad kit from nissan. This had extended hoses and vents etc. I'm yet to find one at the wreckers to confirm this though. Gonna have to convert to EFI or go LPG to fix this I think

I assume this made it better? Also did it affect the starting or running of the car generally? Might be worth a try.
