buying a GQ

Post by CRUSHU »

im selling my zook to buy a gq, just wondering if there are any major things to look out for? and a rough price guide. im not fussy about condition, because as long as it has some vic reg on it, i can get a rwc. i just want it reliable and reasonably cheap. im looking at spending between 5k and 15k, depending on engine and accesories. any info helpful. thanks

First of all do you want a SWB, LWB or a a tray :?:
Petrol motor crack heads, especially when on gas, the standard diesels are slugs, watch for rust aroung the rear window frames and floor and look for body mounts punching through the floor, mainly with lifted rigs.
Check for warn sincro's in the 5 speeds and also broken engine mounts, front seats get a bit dodgy and the LED clocks work when they want. Other than that they are pretty tuff. :D

im not fussy whether it is swb or lwb, but not a ute. i already have a ute  haha, i would prefer a turbo diesel, but how slow is a standard diesel, is it as slow as the zook?

Have a bit of patience, cause the first of the japanese GQ safari's are about to hit the grey import market.. All SWB, all factory turbo diesel, all the interior and exterior trimmings, etc... Most have 50-60k on them, and are still way cheaper than you can buy a flogged out local unit for..

I don't really know?? I was talking to a mate last night, and he said a friend of a friend sort of arrangement had bought a sh1tload of them and was ready to send them over, so I hassled him a bit more this morning and he sent through some more info and that photo.. So they shouldn't be too far off, I guess?? How long does a boat take from japan? Customs clearance would have to take ages too, I guess??
The one in the photo is already quite possibly sold to someone on this board

say it out loud! 8)

they will not be high roofs, cause they were only on the long ones, which can't be imported because nissan still brings in their own patrol wagons.
