Shouldnt be to hard putting a TD42 in place of a TB42. Same gearbox and pretty sure the engine mounts are the same. Would need to get the TD42 loom and stuff for the glow plug timers also.
If you look back thru the for sale section there is a TD42 with safri turbo-intercooler forsale for $6000. This would be a great buy at that price (I have nothing to do with the seller, but if I had the moeny I would buy it).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
Disconnect the sway bars and it'll be great off road. You'll find it more stable on up and down slopes than your shorty but side slopes will feel a bit nervous with that roof rack on top. Should flex up nicely as long as the shocks are suited to the springs. Departure angle will be down a bit but you can always cut the rear quarters. 33's are a good touring size tyre but if you want to go bigger you may have to space the radious arms or even cut the guards to suit. Suspension is a lot easier to change and coils will be more comfortable than leaf. Depends what you want to use it for. If your thinking of comps then just look at how many patrols there are compaired to landcruisers. Each have good and bad points but in the end it's your choice. Personally I've owned both and I've found it easier to modify my patrol than my cruiser.
