Lux Suspension

Post by whiteknight »

Ok just got back from Landcruiser Park and am definately going to do some suspension mods -I currently have Coss Country 2" springs and shocks installed.

From what I can gather from reading the forums I should replace all 4 corners with IFS rear leafs - which will give me more flex?

Do these bolt up to the standard spring hangers etc or is there welding required?

Do i use standard height IFS rears to keep my 2" lift or do i get raised IFS leafs?

Hoe much more flex can I expect? or is there a better alternative on a budget?

Bubs,
would it be possible to run rears up front with stock hangers and possibly shackles? How would this go for height and flex?

cheers,

Yeah mate, just pointing it out. If someone asks how much something is gonna cost it's really not fair to give how much it cost you. Unless of course your an average Joe. Its best to give a price for what an average person would pay buying the parts retail and also point out that that price is based on doing the work themselves. I think a lot of people come on this bb too see what mods they can do and how much they will cost. Then they get people preaching how theirs cost them x amount of dollars. But dont point out that their "dad owns an engineering workshop" or "they are the illegitmate love child of Mickey Thompson". As a result newbies get all slobery over what they are going to do to just be dissapointed.

there is no exact price of this set up, there is many different factors, how much u pick up the springs, what kind of shackles u use, what kind of shocks, what kind of brake lines, etc. all im saying is it could be setup for 500$, IT COST ME EVEN LESS :D it cost me 180$

I have quickly done this run down for an idea of what it would cost to have a shop do it

Extended shackles - $150
Shock Relocation Mounts - $150
Shocks Procomp 12" - 15" - $250
Bushes - $25
Brake line - $50
Labour 2hrs @ $50/hr - $100

So providing your own springs you are up for $725

How does your setup carry a load.
I'm after something that will work carrying either nothing or 500kg.

thanks

wheres the best place to get IFS rears from?? Wreckers?? Also i've got 2" lifted load carrying springs at the moment in the rear so they flew like an old grandma trying to touch her toes. If I was to put IFS rears in with extended shackles what sort of lift will it give my lux?? More or less than 2" above standard? Also Im not sure what the deal is with buying shocks from the states but you can get 4 Rancho 9000's from www.my4by.com for around $250AUS as they have a deal atm buy 3 get the 4th free . Thats before shipping but seems like a good price. I'm thinking it would cost maby $100 to bring em in but not sure what do you guys think?? Also you can get the in-cab kit for $150 aswell. Seems like a bargain..

I have a stack of brand new IFS rears sitting in the shed if anyone needs some cheap- like $50 pair in the northern NSW/ SE Qld area.

Bubs/ Aza I noticed you did not factor lengthening rear propshaft into your prices? To explain to those not aware the IFS rears have centre pin in different position to std rears, which moves diff rearwards about 2 inches from stock.

Is it possible to do it without moving your diff rearwards?? [/b]
