i dont know what there reason for doing it - richard and few of the other competitors said just to run them with the modified but this is how the few in control thought it would be best to be run
don't ask me ask the organisers as to what their reasoning was

Mine gets full lock both ways.
How much prize money was there?
100 series pitman arm - richard is going to look at 75 like on daves who rubs the springs on full lock with 33's - we were about 40mm from the springs with 37's
prize money was as follows - all the entry fees were collected and 40% went to modified winner and 60% went to the outlaw class winner - this is how i was told it was sorted out - richard also recieved a black rat recovery gear kit
last place winner in the rolled zook won the "hard luck award" a poratable ARB air compressor
Don't forget that Richard was using wheel spacers unlike me :( .
Yay! I got me a photo on the internet!

It was a good weekend and thanks to the Qld Rock
Crawling Club for organising it. Unfortunate that there weren't more compeditors but at least it meant that I could pick up second in mod which accounts for the shiny new black rat snatch strap at the front door.
I am happy to report that I had a largely damage free weekend except for a bit of panel damage, tray damage, slightly bent rear tailshaft, dinged hub wiper seal and a bit of paint off the new front bar. Pretty good as I was sort of expecting to be unable to drive it home. Even my clutch is still drivable.
Hope to be there next year with new motor, auto, gears, tyres, front locker and a generally better prepped vehicle.

No he's not on here yet he hasn't got a computer yet.
Went for a drive and broke one of the welds ( the auto hub i Think ) so he still had only 2WD after all that work! :(

What happened to you toymad? I thought that you were going to enter? I saw your ute in the carpark. I was on my way back to camp between stages to get lunch and I wanted to stop to check out your crossmember but the g/f wouldn't let me. :(

I really should have had a go looking back now, Some of the stuff we drove in the rock garden was as bad as the first 3 stages. But I have no spares yet and had to tow a trailer home (Pitiful Excuse but it's the only one i got ) Sorry i didn't actually know it was you & your car as i would have come and said hello. It was good to meet a few people ( Big Red, 1 Mad Engineer, V8zuki ) Great place to explore and make your own tracks.
Next time dude.

NO Class?
Ruff, at first i wasnt going to run at all, i only took the zook up so i had something to drive around in as everyone else had there kids in there cars, so they didnt really need me bumming a lift..
talking to the event organisers and dave i suggested letting me run just for fun and not competing but they insisted on me running - not just to show the crowd (how to fall over - did that the night before playing around!!). The tracks started easy but did get to a good standard at the end, prob the equivalent level as round 0, and as these guys wanted to promote the sport and introduce a "feeder" system which would self eliminate competitors as the comp progressed, i could appreciate that.
OK so it prob wasn't as tough as a sunday drive with the rest of the crew but richard still gave it a good shot and his rig is not too far removed from yours or adrians (stage 1), so it was good from a crowd perspective to see the differences in performance levels of vehicles (plus the tricks learned at XRCC). Overall very well run event, MMM has some homework to do i think in that respect, next time i hope you boys may grace us with your presence , oh and did i mention an enbroided dry-z-bone, polo shirt, 2 pairs of gloves, 4 hats and $300 BUCKS to help lubricate the neck......

he had 38 x12 tsl's i think.
I thought it was a good idea for 1mad engineer to run, not only did it increase numbers competing but it put on a good spectacle for the crowd so that they got some value out of the weekend.
greg also took on some extra challenges just to put on a show and the crowd loved it.
The sport has to have competitors to grow and if people like greg didnt turn up and give it a go then there might not be a next one.
He might have been the only one in the outlaw class but that was not his fault and if he was in with the modified then he would have blitzed us anyway and won it by a big margin.
besides, if he was in our class then i would have come fourth

I wasnt having a go at anyone and i would have done the same as Greg suggested to the organisers before they convinced him to run.
I think Greg prob felt the same as me that he would have rathered seing the cash go to people who had someone to compete against.
But this was a decision for the organisers and i would not have said no either if they were still willing to put up the cash and prizes.
Congrats to all the competitors and if i had of had my rig going i would have also been there. As would all the other Outerlimits guys if we were all up and running.

It was good for the amount of vehicles that were running and I have some pics at

It was very well run thanks to qld rock crawlers for that, if they start a feeder system I'm going to compete. It was a shame too sees ONE 4BY for the outlaw class hopefully we will see more 4bys for the next one.

Looks like good fun!
Well done Greg! 8)
Screw the "politics" he would have won the MOD CLASS anyway if they combined it.
And i am pretty sure he would have drove just for the FUN of it anyway!
Well done to those guys that Entered on the day to make up numbers, un-prepared and still willing to "GET IT".
I am sorry we couldn't make it but there is a VERY GOOD reason we are spending the time to make our piles of Shait look BLING BLING!
P.S where was the "KING OF QLD ROCK CRAWLING" surely there is more than our group out there READY to WHEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanxs guys, it was just good to go and fly the banner, and promote our sport. The feedback was great with an amazing number of parents asking when we were competing next, so i am sure the amount of spectators at round 2 xrcc will be huge!!
plus there was at least 20 people who wrote down the site address, to see your rigs - and the crazy stuff we do!
And troy sold heaps of vids..
Adrian - you should see the waterfall area, dave has moved heaps of rocks and it would be great to get together and give the corner a go!!
(course 5 was 60% of the track we came up with - to start on, you know the one with the 2 boulders as the entrance and that climb out of the hole?)
As far as the prizes, i would have competed for a used stubby cap
but crusty and donna insisted that they had the prizes already printed so it would have been a wast otherwise.
Great fun, and big thanks to dave at manar for running it, even at the comp site he set up a food van, tables and chairs and toilets for the spectators.
Plus the double bunting on the courses and 15 officials allowed good use of throttle!!!!!

sounds like a lot of fun.
Dont rag on us cause we didnt show, man I hate that, if you rely on us for a spectacle then the sport in qld is never going to grow. Anyways i wanted to come along, and clearly I would have done well, but i sold my car. I have got a stock diesel 1997 hilux now that has IFS and the 31s scrub out. I hardly think I will entertain thoughts of grandeur in that. The thing struggles out of my backyard with a load of bark on it, it is hardly going to do well offroad. Other commitments have come up in my life and 4WDriving is taking a backseat for a while.
I will be keen to come and watch for the next one, seeing how I go. I'm entertaining building a comp buggy, so hopefully I will get that out and about, if and when I get the time and money to finish it.

hands and mums dont count!!!
bj, i dont think any of us are having a go at anyone in the outer limits crew in fact there was 3 of us there which made up half the competitors.
We were just disappointed there wasn't more competitors, surely there's more people interested in this sport but maybe they didn't hear about it.
You have to admit that the outlaw class is the big crowd puller so more of them is needed to get it to grow, apart from greg, mick, sam, ruff, pos tj pete and yourself who else is there out there in qld ?
Its a long way for the interstaters to come so we cant expect a lot of them to make the effort but a few would be good.
The queensland rockcrawling mob put a hell of a lot of hard work into the event and the area has huge possibilitys so i'm hopeing they dont get discouraged and run it again next year, in fact i would like to see 3 or 4 of the Q ROCK events and 3 or 4 of the XRCC events every year
