Hi all
My 86 Range Rover has the original (I think) rubber body mounts which are starting to crap themselves. They are about 35 mm high. I want to replace them with 50mm aluminium blocks. From looking under the vehicle I can see 10 mounts that I will need to replace. I have already installed extended SS braided brake lines as I have a two inch spring lift and long travel shocks.
As I have no experience with body lifts, is there any tricks to replacing the existing mounts? Is it just a matter of undoing the 10 bolts and the 4 seat belt mounts and lifting the body? What is the best way to lift the body? I am hoping it won't be too involved just to lift the body 15mm.
Cheers
Andrew

All the info was written by HSV Rangie from AULRO.
Perhaps this topic should be made a sticky with the rest of the Tech info.
Required:
10 spacers 50-60mm bar stock cut to lth.
Drill 11mm hole through center.
For 50mm lift 10 bolts 8.8 M10x130 with nylocs.
rear Behind rear wheels 2 bolt on supports for body, remove and add to top same amout as lift. refiit to chassy.
Under front seats is a spacer that requires extending.
Rad on 84 I think is mounted to front panel so should lift up with body this you should try and lower relocate mounts on front panel if possible. other wise shroud must be modded.
seat belt mounts need extending: 25mmx3mm flat with 10mm holes at same centres as lift. extra bolt needed.
rear break hose rotate Tee 90 degrees BLEED brakes after.
Front brake lines can be extended IE: pulled through another 50mm carefully,. relocate mount on inner guard.
if manual clutch line need to be replaced with longer.

Make sure you loosen the steering column unis pinch bolts or you might pull the end out of your column there is plenty of spline on the shaft to accomodate a small lift like yours. Also you might need to relieve some of the stretch in the fuel filler hose by loosening the hose clamps and rotaiting the rubber hose.

I also had to bend and extend the hi/low shift lever when I had an LT77.
The hand brake lever was too low - although it worked, it stuffed the rubber boot in short time. When I replaced the LT77 with R380, I extended the mounting bracket for the hand brake, which is now much better. Later hand brakes are different so this may not be a problem.
