I've got a 2000 model hilux (IFS). this morning i noticed that grease had been flicked up under my wheel arch. On closer inspection there was heaps of grease flicked on the lower arm and bumpstop aswell. I cleaned it away and had a close lookat the boot, but i cant see where the hell its coming from.
found the problem, was a split in the CV boot near the outer circlip. Have to get it replaced. No doubt i'll have to sell a kidney to pay for the price that toyota will be asking.
i may be wrong, but if u have oil coming from that area and the boot is cracked check ur cv's dude u way have sanpped one

Years ago when I busted a cv boot on my Subaru, I cleaned up the split (was only small) really well and used a bike tube repair kit to patch the break. Was still holding together 6 months later b4 I got rid of it.
