WE Rock - Round 2 - Bathurst NSW 18/19 June

I am competing in a full bodied vehicle. Although I'm not doing it to prove a point or because I want to, rather because I don't have a buggy........yet!
This would be the most difficult competition in Australia to compete in a full bodied vehicle. The courses are built to test buggies to their limits and beyond.

Yes, i agree.
I think that as the next few events unfold you will see less and less "Bodied Rigs" driving any of the stages!
I hope that the course designers create a Competition to really Show Case just why buggy's will be required and why Buggys can simply go places other Rigs cannot. I would rather see 10 buggy's pushed to the absolute limit and driving the "un-drivable" than 20 rigs playing on courses that are drivable.
There are plenty of challenging events out there that full bodied rigs are suitable for ie, XRCC, Qrock, woodpecker etc etc.
As for using Beebee as a comparison of Bodied rigs driving what buggy's do, then i think thats no real comparison. Beebee and Greg will stitch up any buggy on most courses (at the moment) this is due to the courses STILL not been hard enough, however the stages will get to a point that they will not stand a chance. I know i am not offending Dave or Greg as i know they have both seen just what the buggys are capable of and they have seen just where this can take the sport. I know that they have given into the fact that as each round of WEROCK is ran they will struggle more and more. This is why we will be sure to see them in a Buggy in the near future. Then i believe we will have one wicked comp!
I look at the Third stage on Saturday at WEROCK as what we should expect in the future rounds. Some buggy's went close but the full bodied rigs did not even get close.
I am not trying to scare of full bodied rigs from the next event at Bathurst (i believe that it will be similar to WEROCK Rd 1), however i am saying that the Stages WILL get harder and harder at each event and then by next year we should see the TWO classes separate. This will hopefully allow the event to progress even further!
Either way i am looking forward to it! Make the stages as hard as possible and may the best team win, and if they don't win make sure they put on one hell of a show trying!

That's right POS - I couldn't have said it better myself!
The only way a full bodied rig could maintain competiveness is to build something essentially from scratch. Something like the new Lockless Monster with mid mounted engine and heaps of weight removal. Even then you will still struggle more than a full on buggy but for what purpose? You'd be better off spending your $$ on a kickass buggy without the constraints of std chassis and bodywork.
Even so, I'll still be at round 2 trying to keep the buggies honest

I actually wrote this as a PM to sombody but it sums where WE Rock is heading:-
For this year WE Rock is using the competition rules and are working towards using the vehicle spec rules. I dont really see us running the stock class this year at all and we will probaby still combine the Legends and super Modified classes for this year because we dont have the numbers to seperate them at this point. We may seperate them for the finals but time will tell.
Even if we do seperate the Legends and super mod they will still run the same basic courses - maybe the super mods will have harder bonus lines.
The way this event is heading it is really geared towards full tube buggies in both the legends and super mod as it is in the US. The reason for lack of full bodied rigs is because of the high number of rollovers. In the US just about everybody rolls over at least once in every event. Maybe the top 3 guys wont roll over.
The comps here arnt anywhere near that level yet but by next year we will be really trying to push things along. Round 2 will be similar to round 1 where the courses arnt setup to really push the rigs to the limit of rolling over. Round 3 probably wont be either but the finals will probably starting to push things a bit. Next year we will be into it full on to get ready for the world championship at the end of 2006.
So at this point a full bodied rig will be perfectly OK to compete in (really should have an roll cage and harnesses etc). If you drive conservatively then you shouldnt roll over (just like round 1). All I would do is make sure the rig isnt lifted too much - for most of this stuff you should have less than 500mm belly clearance. Both Adrian and Tony run about 450mm - so the rigs are set up alot lower than most.
So the exact classes now is there is only one class and this will change as soon as we get the required numbers although when this happens the 2 classes will still be driving the same courses.

I agree less body rigs will be as competitve however i wouldn't discourage anyone to give it a go. At the moment there aren't enough buggies out there to make up a descent sized field. Just do some homework first have a look at the footage and the rigs that have entered previously and come prepared as best you can. I would agree though build it as low as you can and shiat loads of bars round the outside.
The next few rounds I think will still be a little tame from the point of off camber and vert climbs and dropoffs so I think a bodied rig will still be competitve.
