$12,000 CASH prize money, how would you spend it ?

$12,000 CASH prize money, how would you spend it ?
Was thinking the other night what i would spend $12,000 cash on if i was fortunate enough to win this years Tuff Truck.
Its not like they're giving you a bunch of product that you probably already have (air lockers etc)
You can spend cash on any thing you want, your mortgage, your new buggy or if you're Guts, your fettish for goats.
This is the biggest prize pool ever paid to a winner of a 4wd event in aus/
true sign of the times i reckon
will make for an interesting competition, if on sunday there are say 3 vehicles neck a neck for first place.

then their is reimbusing all the wifes that have had to put up with all the savings being spent gettin getting the car ready.
So the kitchen reno that has been put off for a year
$5000
Or worse the divorse papers

Biggest prize pool ever, ya but the smallest ever number of nominations for TTC, I think the $1000 up front before voting even finished had something to do with that. This to me shows that people would prefer $6000 as first place and a $181.81 saving on the entry fee (Thats $6000 / 33). I don`t know what 2nd and 3rd prizes are but they could have been cut back aswell and there is even less that the entry fee could have been.
I have said it before and I`ll say it again, 99.999999999999999999% of people enter comps to have fun, any prizes that they might happen to get from it are a bonus. I would be very surprised if anybody in TTC this year said "hay its $12000 first prize, I think I`ll enter it so I can win that"
I have never looked at what the prizes at an event are. If people weren`t talking about the cash prizes at TTC this year I wouldn`t even know they had them.
But to answer your question Rhys I`d spend it on a drivetrain for a buggy or take the wife away on a holiday over seas or reno`s on the house

I like how competitors have to prepare their trucks
then pay the transport costs to get them to the event.
Then most likely damage them and pay for repairs
And pay $1000 for the pleasure
Whereas the organisers get to make a bunch of conflicting rules and profit of the competitors.
Doesn't quiet add up to me, but the prize money sure is nice if you win it

And then there is your sponsors who put time, effort and $$ into helping your chances only to be told that they have to take a back seat to the event sponsors.

Yeah forgot to mention that anything from behind the front doors forward is restricted for even sponsors and stickers. :( Except the roof. I think your sponsors can have the roof

Don't forget underneath.
In Cheezy's case, that would probably be pretty lucrative

which unless they change the winching penalties, seems to be the way to win TT in the least amount of points (only 10 pts for a single winch connection).
i agree that this scoring system isnt suitable and i sympathise with you. but if you guys decide to winch the entire course, there will be guys that drive it faster with less penalties.
and i think this year, there will be so many vehicles completing the course that the winner of each course will be determined on the basis of which vehicle incured the least penalties and then, which vehicle finished the fastest.
maybe this is just what i think, and that it needs clarifying by the judges,
but you're not honestly going to pull the cable out ?
none of the courses are straight anyway, so you will need to winch more than once in the same course/
PlanB,
ok your right (you know us too well) we wont winch unless we have broken heaps of $hit
But it is a crazy setup, basically if 2 teams are tied on pts then it goes to the quicker one. but if we set up 1 loooooooong cable and heaps of snatch blocks to change direction, this means only "1" winch and 10 pts penalty only for the whole course. But how frigging boring would that be!
Although some people might be tempted with $12k up for grabs.

Wouldnt that be classed as multiple winches as each time you take out a snatch block that is re-rigging. SO that makes it a new recovery.
But back on topic - Fix the car and go to an isloan somewhere with the missus.

From my understanding of the rules, the winching penalty is called once the hook is attached to an anchor. I don't believe winching should be used to gain an advantage over someone who drives the course regardless of attempts before their time runs out.

Yes - guilty as charged!
I have made the Tuff Truck officials aware of my feelings on this issue. And although both sides understand where each other is coming from, I don't think it is fair on team sponsors. A blanket rule (from B pillar forward) doesn't leave much on a single cab ute.
There is an ongoing problem in my opinion and it's that the competitors are not given the respect they I believe they deserve. As others have stated, we're there to have fun and put on a show. We are the ones who are out of pocket for the weekend. Each competitor is spending thousands on merely attending the event for the spectators enjoyment.
I'm not dirty on anyone as everyone has their own interests. If the rule required certain desinated areas of defined size then fair enough but I think the rule as it stands is too demanding.
Hopefully my aingst will translate into an entertaining drive at TTC!

gotta agree with beebee on the sponsor dispute....this is very unusual for a competition to enforce something like that.... surely the event sponsors are supposed to get their coverage from advertising before the event, during the event and basically everywhere the organisers of the comp can get it by way of radio,tv,banners at the event, names on event t shirts, stuff like that....i am involved with the running of the car show "powercruise" and i am sure that if we told every entrant that they had to carry a massive carline sticker(our major sponsor) on their car we wouldnt get any entrants......anyway rant over
$12000 would go straight to my missus for whatever she wanted....before you flame me if i gave her that she could never question me ever again spending money on my "damn cars"
or $12000 on my buggy.......hmmmmmm

Winching Penalties have now been Revised and its official.
2005 TTC is now a Driving Event!!!!
Winching is worth 25 points.
And a Back and Fill(Reverse) is worth 2 points.
BRING IT AWWWN
Also not that i cared about the spare tyre rule but you do not have to carry this while competing. It does have to be kept at the start of each course though.
