Big problem on motor
Big problem on motor
any one able to give me pin outs for a 16 ga motor ecu , on weekend i have lost spark and i looking at the ecu , coil or loose wire.
Basicly bro had head under bonet and was hearing a moss and dropped a lead of dissy and the motor stalled, after reconnction i dont have any spark.
so what i have done is , check every wire i can and join to make sure no loose wires or plugs. none i can see.
am only getting 8 volts from out put of coil to dissy which is wierd. and 12 volts switching on ignition from the unit under the coil (little black box with 2 connector thingys)
have removed park plug and turn key over while earthing a spark plug, no spark., so put a lead from coil to almost grount looking for spark , and nothing.
I can hear the external fuel pump going on ign , and have fuel going to motor.
Motor can be turned over with starter motor but no bangs :(
I have checked every fuse i can and they are all good.
No warning lights up on dash except the oil light just before you try and start it as per normal .
so hopeing to get pin outs of ecu so i can check if it getting and giving out right voltage.
also think if i have a dead sensor it could cause no spark. so a list of sensors and on what pins and if they have a resistance i can check would also help. what sensors are needed to make ecu provide voltage to coil ?
I have even called the racq out and the guy just walked up and looked at spark plug and turned it over and was like no spark , probly coil or ecu. see an auto spark or take it to dealer ( i thought they meant to get it atleast running or offer to tow it but i could be wrong)
So before i take it to sparks or dealer ideas????
do have a wiring diagram for it that i am working thru but it doesn't have sensor details , but i can 't see any problems after staring at it for a few hours.

Can you explain that a bit better, i cant make any sense out of it.

Is there a check engine light?
Also, is there a pulse at the negitive side of the coil?
try to explain it a bit better
okay basicly the car had a slight miss, but it was intermittant and brother wanted to make sure it was a miss i heard so he tried to replicate it. and we took a spark plug lead off the distrubitor, it continued to run but it had started missing. by the time i got to tell him yeah sounds like that , it had stalled. After trying to restart it we relised some thing wasn't right. The motor turns over via starter motor but there is not spark to ignite the fuel (well that my assumptions so far)
can you explain this negitive pulse a bit. as i had a normal digital voltmeter on it and haven't seen a spike ,but being digital it may not pick it up.
The Rotar button turns when we try and start it. with the distrubitor cap off ( were doing to see if the button turn)
The check engine light i assume you mean in green or the light that is hooked up to handbrake light. both don't light up the only light that is on when i am on ign and start position on keys is the oil light.
If it was a faulty lead or spark plug, it should still run shouldn't it just really rough?

ecu
yeha tried that after an hour of looking and wondering.
left ecu out for nearly an hour no luck

You need to hook up a test light to the negitive side of the coil and see if it has a voltage pulse when cranking. If you do, the coil is stuffed. If not, keep looking.
If there is no check engine light on the dash, either the globe has blown or the ECU has no power or is stuffed.
Also, some times these ECUs can burn out ( parts inside leak onto the curcit board, shorting it out), pull it out and smell it. If it smells like a rank cat pee smell, its most likley fried...................
If you still cant get it going, might be time to give the car to a auto sparky.........
Hope this can get you out of trouble mate
motor
well ecu doesn't smell. and i know what crispy computer bits smell like customers always bring in fried pcs.
Haven't tried the test light just yet as i don't have one but will organise some thing.
but it might be a trip to auto sparks just easier but could be a bit expensive.

Need an oz wiring diagram for a vitaria 1.6 ecu
Need an oz wiring diagram for a vitaria 1.6 ecu as , i have 12 volts going to ecu, but not sure what pins i meant to get voltage out on , been told there is a power source for the fuel pump , in the pin out and i could check that if the ecu gone crispy

Looks like i might have to go on a rescue mission to Mackay!!!!!
Oh and you need to use a LED test light otherwise you might blow up the ECU, that is if it isnt already blown up.

update
okay finialy got time and the rain has buggered off so i can look at it correctly,
checking to see if i have 12 volt on the ecu and a solid earth.
there is a relay activator for the fuel pump coming from the ecu, that should have 12 volts for a bit. if i read schmatics right. so if no voltage it gone frizzle.
Is that right?? i pretty sure it is but known to be wrong.
