im converting my county front to vented discs off a later rangie and ive hit a little snag. the callipers in the county have 1 brake line going to each of them where as the rangie has 2. can i just have a splitter made from 1 line into 2 or is there more than that?

use 110 or 130 front calipers if you can there is no brake line issues then
i am just converting the front to my 93 110 (solid rotors) to 130 calipers.
the 130 calipers use larger swept area pads for more efficient braking when towing/carriny a load/racing :roll:
just make sure the calipers use a vented rotor.
it wasn't worth the hassle trying to use cheaper rr calipers when i bought 130 calipers for $150 s/h and they bolt on with vented rotors

The rangie calipers are dual circuit - hence the reason for the 2 hoses. You can drill them to make them single circuit and plug the 2nd brake hose fitting. Have a search on the web, have seen instructions on how to do it before.

I recall seeing information on drilling the rangie calipers to use them on defenders etc as Ben said. I believe it is in the landrover forum on pirate and probably a few years back.

You could use a tee and dual flexible lines.

Be aware that those calipers will have 10mm metric theads. The 3/8 hose ends will physically screw into the calipers but because 10mm is slightly larger, the risk of stripping the threads is great (I know this from personal experience).

I am not sure what year rover changed from 3/8" sae to metric. My 79 rangie was 3/8" and my 84 is 10mm metric.

You need to go to a brake place to get custom flexible brake lines made. Hydraulic places like Pirtek, are not permitted to make them.

Edit: The tee at the rear diff, which splits the rear brake lines to left and right calipers may be suitable.

drilling the caliper and blocking off one port is simple but make sure the master cylinder is up to the task of pushing the extra pistons.I have done a conversion on a stage 1 using Series3 master cyl and booster,range rover disks and calipers(81 model).The problem was that the master cyl wasn't matched to the rest of the braking system and was hard to stop,a lot of pressure applied to the pedal just to pull up(booster working properly).If I were to to another conversion i would use the whole system as the engineers designed it.

my 110 had factory 4 pot callipers so it shouldnt be any worse than it is already. getting a little 2 into 1 pipe looks easier than drilling a hole inside the calliper considering i just rebuilt them (and probebly safer from an insurers point of view).

i just realised if you are going to put the same diameter discs in only vented (thicker) then you only need spacers to go between the caliper halves.
i think you can do this??
some places sell the spacers, try your local rover wrecker/mechanic.

a complete set of reco rangie vented callipers was 50 bucks cheaper than the spacers, which they dont make for 110 callipers aparently only rangie and disco. so to fit the spacers i would have had to use dual circuit callipers anyways.

as for the 3/8 vs 10 mm thing john, im hoping my 86 110 has metric (fingers crossed) i've got some thread guages so i will check before the change over. Thanks
