He did really well to finish 4th outright at this year's GC2000. Pity the little ute has probably seen it's last comp, and won't be there next year to challenge for the title.

But, I'll be there. In one form or another. Probably as an official, as I promised Andy McCabe I'd help him because he helped me at the L.C.

I wouldn't be so sure of that marshy the yellow ute is already half rebuilt
the cab and chassis are all straight and painted

striped tomato wrote:We did it last year and back in 2002. Cost was about $150 from memory. Had a GPS nav stage Friday night then about 10 stages across Saturday and Sunday on Private Property. Most stages involve some winching, all stages are against the clock. There were a couple of non driving stages - eg bush skills, first aid.

I'll definitely be putting in for it again, and this year I'll be taking some warm clothes as the overnight camps were painfully chilly (-8 C) - especially when you're packed up and ready to go before sunrise.

it'll be great to see you again steve & yes warm clothing would be a good idea, as we've put in an order for extra cold weather for the week end!!!.

Heath and Bruce,

I will be ringing either Rob or Andy to let them know that I am about a 95% certainty to be able to help them out as an official this year. Should be interesting, seeing the event from the other side this year.

2005 Detail

Post by blindreindeer »

I just called Rob for verification on some of these questions. Rob Clarke - Event Organiser - has asked me to let all know that :

1. the 2005 Entry Form will be available / distributed *very* soon
2. that the event will be run on the Hinchcliffe property only this year
3. the entry fee will be approx $250 - pending insurance cost - and last years $500 cash (+ goodies) first prize will be much greater.
4. vehicles will need roll cage/ helmet/ window nets etc as per winch challenge / outback rules. Safety is a very high priority.

More detail to be on entry form.

Rob said anyone interested in entering should call him on 0413 644 266 or email tcm@onthenet.com.au asap.

That's me out! I'm too tight to spend the money on cage, nets and harnesses. I rang Clarky and it looks like he will let me marshal so I can take my frustrations out on those who pi$$ me off :finger: . All my mates know what I drink ;) ;) .

G'day fellas, been reading through the posts & sounds like you've got a good little comp/weekend going on. Was havin' a chat with a bloke 12 mnths ago & he was talking about a comp that sounds very much like the same one, he marshalled for the weekend & reckons "IT WAS GREAT".
It got me quite courious & pardon my ignorance, but is this event open to the spectating public? If so, is camping availiable? Any info on pricing, when, where, how & anything thats relavant, would b greatly appreciated. Either way keep up the good work!!! Good to see local event goin' hard.

For Spectating and camping rules you would be better off speaking to Rob Clark as he is the one running the event. You will find his contact details a couple of posts ago.
