I will soon be doing the above conversion, can anyone who has done this please tell me if there any tricks or mods that need to be done.

I'm hoping that the zf is the same length from bellhousing to back of auto so that my transfer can stay where it is and my tailshafts will be the right length, otherwise i will have to source different shafts and t/c mounts.

So the zf will bolt right in place of the t/f without altering mounts etc, why would i need to change the front shaft? Does the zf shifter have the same alloy housing in the tunnel and will it fit straight in?

the 727 auto rangie's have a solid front t shaft and they just don't look very strong have a look at yours and you will see what i mean.
The Factory zf rangies have an alloy tunnel top that unbolts as do the 727 rangies but i dont know if the bolt holes are in the same position!
The transferecase will be in the same position and will use the same mounts.

Thanks Tuf, i was hoping that it was just a matter of bolting it in without changing shafts, moving the t/c etc. I reckon the front shaft will be strong enough , its lasted 20 years so a few more wont hurt.

Sorry to HiJack, but I have a tf727 behind a 350 chev, does this mean I can use the same adaptor if I go ZF instead of TF?

It's not that simple you will be able to use the bellhousing adapter but you WILL need to get a crankshaft adapter to bolt up the strange torque convertor setup!
