cheap 4x4 project - zookie
ok, so i have a mate who wanted me to ask this to you zookie guru's out there how much you reckon it woul cost to get all this shit, mostly self installed. his quick blurb--> he is a full time uni student / bum (therefore bugger all money). he wants a fun little basher that will go pretty damn hard , but also be his daily driver (about ~200kms per week).
-1.3L soft top (maybe about a early 90's model with a solid engine)
-leaf sprung
-either WT or NT
-33x12.5 mudders / MT'R / MT claws etc
-3" suspension lift probably procomp shocks
-2" body lift
-tube bar
-rock sliders (home made probably)
-decent roll bar
-half doors
-most probably series 3 tranny gears
-snorkle
-a couple of spotties
how much you reckon all this would cost?
thats all i can think of at the moment, i'll ask him if that was all he wanted, but if you people have any other input / good ideas as to what else he should get, let me know. thanks everyone
*edit* and i know SPOA is illegal in QLD, but are there any ways around it? how dodgy is it doing it anyway and risking it? i think i have overheard you guys ssaying its do-able if you get lux diffs, but how hard is the lux diff conversion?
sorry for the massive post

-33x12.5 mudders / MT'R / MT claws etc 33 will kill a zook axle pretty quick
-3" suspension lift probably procomp shocks don't do this save $ get more flex
-2" body lift < $100 diy-tube bar
-rock sliders (home made probably) few hundred-decent roll bar same
-half doors if you must then $50
-most probably series 3 tranny gears 1500
-snorkle cheap pvc etc
-a couple of spotties 100
get width from big offset rims.... cheaper than buying a wt. Also 33's do bad things to zook axles unless you baby it, I'd satay with a genuine aggressive 31.
No locker.... import a lockwrong for $300. Put that in front and weld rear. Other wise sounds cool

how hard is the lux axle swap? that'll hold a 33" pretty well, wont it?
the locker was in there, but it was going to be a bit later down the track

if your on a serious budget, and want hilux diffs and 33's, then get a hilux.....will work out cheapest/easiest.
Cheers,

i got a hilux this is for my mate. i'll tell him to just get agressive 31's instead. the axle swap sounds like too much effort.

Sounds like a rich uni student too me.
this sounds pretty cool. so you reckon weld the rear and lockright in the front?
i rekon 33's and welded rear might push the boundries a little.
how gutless are the 1.3L donk? what about adding extractors and a free flow exhaust to get a bit more power?
indubitably
i had 33's and air locked rear
done 2 axles in 2 trips
hence the lux diffs now i have a welded front and have no worries aboput strength

TOYZUKI 96 coily zook,lux diffs, 3 inch suspension lift,3 inch body lift, 33'sMTRS,series 4 hopper,power steer,twin air lockers,4 LINK front and rear,2 inch spacers(GOT WIDTH)
I ran 36's, with a spooled rear, and lockright front for a long time, only busted stuff doing realy stupid shit, fronts, I only ever busted in reverse, under power.
I did bust a rear axel once, I landed on the back left hand rear wheel, after being in mid air, going up a quarie wall.
made me turn sideways, high side and cave in my roof ahh fun
vehicle strength comes down to driving style

Zooks on 33's look dodgy to some police and like nothing to others. i know i guy in my town with 33's and he hasn't ever told me about cops bothering him but then again i have had trouble at 31" so its touch and go.
if you have another set of stocko's sitting at home then you should be right as they will generally just ask you to come to them in a week and show them the stock tyres on it. but ya still get done with $75 and a point.
