The Patrol ones or the Toyota Ones?

I think enyone who has seen me drive knows how well we test the Toyota ones. But to be honest the patrol ones have not had as much testing. However the bell and Star Construction is very similar to the Toyota ones and are made of the same material. So the treating works just as well on the patrol ones. I beleive a Treated GQ CV would be as strong if not stronger than a Stock GU CV. Due to the fact the Stub Shafts on both these are the same size. The Weak point on a GQ/GU CV comes down to the Stub Shaft no mater how they are treated. There realy is nothing that can be done to make the Stub Stronger. Although i dont beleive our treatment makes it any weaker.

i see a problem with making stronger CV's.... if they don't break first what will? the diff??? which is then a bitch to change in comparison, unless we could get those fused hubs with auto reset (that would be nice), just my opinion thou :D

from my experience with GQ cvs its always the bell that lets go
only on the last instance of breakage was the shaft that let go
which also took out the hub

im keen to give these ago ... as i've been known to have stock CVs just let go for no reason what so ever

that and im sponsored CVs ... will be sending a few sets down
when im up and running again .. is there a discount for bulk items? :D

the weak point on the stock CV is the star/race. it is very rare to break the bell (except for the aftermarket CV's) i have never broken the stub on the necked down section, i have however had the stub snap off across the bearing riser where it grafts into the bell. but 95% of the time the star just cracks open enough to let the inner axle spin inside the splines. it will be interesting to see if welding the ring on the end of the bell stops the star disorting enough to let the balls destroy it.
if the stub shaft becomes the weak point (i believe it is a long way from being the weak point on the stock item) then you have done all you can do and come up with a good product. i think the star/race will still let go first a lot of the time though. time will tell.

We will only treat Genuine NTN CVs. As long as its the NTN ones you have it wont be a problem. We have tried treating aftermarket CVs in the past and the failures were great. We had 2 brand new toyota aftermarket CVs break the stub shafts within 5 min of moderate wheeling. We have never broken a Stub or bell on a treated NTN Toyota shaft. Saying this we have never had a Stub Break on a treated GQ one as yet however i beleive this is going to be the weak point in the end.

We could prob work out a discount if you bought bulk.

This is correct however we treat the star also. The Race needs to be as it is otherwise it deforms to easy.

Need MQHOON, to post in this thread. I know they played around with heat treating the CV and putting rings on them. Think after abit of testing they decided it was easy'er to just put std ones in.

Not all heat treatments or Rings are the same. Dont be put off because others have failed.

Tony, what's likely to bust in your experience with your Lux treated CV's.....................
I mean what's the next weekest link when the CV's hold up (HP 5.29, ARB centre).
I like the hub fuse idea like the Warn ones for Jeeps.

Usually the Axle but with 5.29s i couldnt guarentee that this will be the weak point. 5.29s are well known for being very weak.
