Rear diff movement
As stated i seem to have some movement in the rear end (of the vehicle) i mainly notice this when driving it just seems loose in the back, It just seems to move. I first noticed it after a weekend of wheeling in the Watagans, I thought it might have been the wheel bearings so I checked them and adjusted them but it's still there.
Basically you grab the rear tyre and push and pull and you get a slight clunking sound and feel to it (like something sliding in and out of something), I've replaced the bushes top and bottom on the control arms in Nov 04 rear shocks July 04, the left rear is slightly lower than right rear so new springs are in order, I have a Maxi diff lock in as well
I don't know if I've explained myself well enough for people to understand but if any one can help it will be appreciated.

wat vehicle is this ? ? ?
if it aframe check the ball join but it sounds abit fishy. If its panhard check the mount havent elongated at the bolt hole due to the thing bein to loose to start with.
edit: btw this sint spose to be in the Nissan section is it ? ? ?
if so then yes def check the uper panhard mount for elongated bolt hole.

first thing to do is recheck all your bushes.... I cant see it being the aframe mount cause it would have to be really really loose to be able to get movement in it by you push/pulling on a tyre.
Get a mate one of you lie down under the back of the car while the other pushes on the rear qtr panel... look for any suspect movement and if you can locate where the click/clunk is coming from.
If its def not any of the suspension links I wouldnt suggest drivin it round at all last thing you want is to loos a wheel at speed.
There isnt any excessive oil leaking through roun the inside edge of the wheel ? ? ? behind the hub (where it mounts to the diff hosuing ? ? ?)
I've just noticed there is some oil on the right rear behind the disc ( that is looking at the disc from underneath) I thought it may have been from me adjusting the wheel bearing and having a bit of run off from that bearing.
What do you think. it doesn't seem excessive eg. not dripping on the ground.

If you cant find any other suss linkages or bushes then I would def be takin out the bearing and removing the whole hub and checking the bolts that mount the spindle to the diff housing.... if they have come loose then your lucky it hasnt collapsed already .
There should also be a metal plate with little tabs that are bent up after torqing the bolts to keep them from comin loose.... Replace this if its got to many tabs snaped off (mine had three missing) and if it aint there than you need one anyways
Jack up that wheel off the ground and wiggle it and you should notice it easily if that is what has come loose.... note driving the vehicle is very dangerous if this is the case....
Dont forget you will need sum gasket maker and that the short side axle wont slide outward through the spindle due to the locking dog splines being thicker.
Also before you remove the short side axle activate the locker and leave it locked, until you have everything back together. The last thing you want is the diff lock catch coming off the axles and out of the diff centre.
I had the wheel off the ground earlier as i adjusted the wheel bearings, but there doesn't seem to be any movement, it's when you've got all the wheels on the ground and give a good hard shove backwards and forwards that you notice the movement and sound.

with the weight on the wheel the sound will be more noticable as the weight shifts but with the wheel off the ground you should be able to feel side to side movement which isnt a good thing.
But as i said if the oil is escaping from the end and droping into the brake disc and then running down it they cant be tight enough and the seal is gone so its time to be checked out.

Just jacked it up removed wheels and try to move discs side to side but they didn't move. Put wheels back on still had the movement, so i took it for a little drive and engaged centre diff and maxi drive stopped checked movement it had reduced heaps and only seemed to be a little movement in left side, disengaged both locks went for another drive checked them again and it only seems to be in the left side and only minimal now, so what to do any more suggestions.

I replaced the diff ball joint a few months ago.
When it was out, I noticed a fair bit of sideways movement in each of the A arms. Since this prevents the diff moving, I thought it would be smart to fix it.
Also there was still clunks coming from the rear.
Bought 2 A arm/chassis bushes and removed them.
The old bushes looked OK, but the bush bolts had significant wear.
There was a lip at the head end, and the first few (or is that last few) threads were worn down.
So overall, maybe 5 thou smaller diameter.
The original bolts are 3/4" x 4" UNF grade 5.
I bought 3/4" x 4 1/2" UNF grade 8 bolts.
The longer bolt has a longer shank, so the bush is not in contact with the thread.
Anyway. Replaced the bushes & bolts.
Still a small amount of movement in the A arms, but nowhere near as much, and NO CLUNKS
Since the A arm is the system to hold the diff central and prevent sideways movement, this could be your problem.
Bushes cost $25 each. Bolts cost $4 each (with nuts).
