4k+auto

Post by roc box »

im thinking of converting from 1ltr to the 4k corolla with an auto just looking for a bit of feed back on a couple of questions.
1. will the s3 rock hoppers have any problem drivin the auto given the taller 1st gear.i run 32 and 4.1 diffs.

2 what to do with the jack shaft.
just a little unsure weather to go 4k or something else.has to be auto though and under $1000 for motor and box[and for the search nazis yes i have searched]any input would be apreciated[ thanks in advance]

Be prepared to....

1. seriously cut up the trans tunnel for the trimatic to fit (or a really big bodylift...)
2. body mounts fairly easy.....grab some 75x75rhs and a oxy....
3. move the existing transfer case back, and make stuff around with tailshafts, OR, move the radiator....

Personally......i'd either fit another 1 lire and sell it, then buying a later 1.3 zook, or do alot of stuffing around to fit a 1.3 or1.6....

I trust this helps...learn from my foolish mistakes...

Cheers,

Drewfus :?

my mates uncle put a 3k in his with auto no body lift or any thing runs a special rubber type coupler insted of a jack shaft reckons it works a treat.would the 4k auto box be a similar size and lenth ,if it is ill pic his brain for some answers.no tunnel mods or moving transfer either :D

Nothings wrong with it, think its a good thing, but either I was doing something wrong when I tried fitting my 4k and auto, or it's not as simple as its suggested....

Quite happy for someone to prove me wrong.....

Note: the 4k and 5 speed is a different kettle of fish, as it will go in fairly easy..

Cheers,

im not exactly sure i know its taller but i think itll work well with the s3 gearing.im at 80to 1 with standard 4 speed so im guessing about 60 to 1 with auto which is plenty low enough.any thoughts :?:

you can get a kit to mount 4k etc...... But you have to move transfer back
Can get around that by using a flex joint off a lada niva with a bit of dickin
around.

remember with a auto because of the torque converter what ever your final craw ratio is u double it, so if it works out at 60:1 its really 120:1
