Ok just got of the phone from Sam.

He was waiting in line for the night run, at this point in time (10.30) they have run about 10 cars through.

Sam was saying that the scoring isn't the best, there is a bonus line but it works out better to not even try to attempt the bonus. Bit of a shame.

Anyway, Gonads has had the best run so far, no penelties and did not attempt the bonus. He ended up with 150 out of 150.

Ruff ran about 5 and attempted the bonus line. He didn't get through the bonus so he scored somewhere in the 130's.

Ballsac (peter antunac) also attempted the bonus and was unsuccesful!

The bonus line is just a ledge, both Sam and Ruff feel that the MOGROVER should be able to drive it!

Speaking with Sam and he was unsure whether he should attempt the bonus line or play it safe, i think he will go for the bonus just to try and get the psycological edge!

The other good news was that RUFF reckons that the New Defender Lockless feels nearly as good if not better than his buggy! This is a great feeling that this rig has worked out how we wanted it too. I still don't think that it will win, simply due to been low. It should do well in the OBC though :D :D

Plenty of people already rolling through the gates, and the Haultech/Werock stands is all set-up.

I will try and get updates as much as possible, however i think Sam will be very busy tomorrow!

Just had a very quick update from Sam.

The day is just getting started down there so he was very busy!

The report from last night was that a few people drove the "Bonus Line". I only know of the Mogrover and one of the Overkill vehicles getting threw the bonus line, there most likely would have been more but thats all i got so far!

It is also interesting that the people that drove the Bonus line ended up with less points than some people that didn't attempt it, doesn't make a great deal of sense and doesn't really make competitors want to try any of the other bonus stages if there are any. But thats the way the cookie crumbles and they just have to learn to adapt to the rules!

I don't think i will be able to get another update until tonight as its a full on day for them. But i will try and get a detailed run down of most stages for you all!

Oh yeah, Sam was the 19th rig to go threw and he got to bed at 3am

He also mentioned that one of the Jeeps broke a steering knuckle off, i am unsure which jeep it was.

Ok Found out it was Wooders that broke on the night stage, not too sure what it was but Sam seems to certain it was the steering knuckle!

There was also a Roll over on the stage, nothing to major. (don't know who it was yet)

There are now at the show and shine, apparently Gonads Zuk looks pretty mad with a very nice paint job!

The Haultech stand is doing well, 3 sets of "Haultech Heavy duty CV's" already been sold! The Budgie (ruffs buggy) is drawing alot of attention and interest to the WEROCK stand aswell!

Should have some more info around about 7 pm tonight!

I appoligise if most of the info i am getting is about the O/Limits and haultech teams but they are the only ones i have contacts for!

If anyone else knows a spectator or competitor try them on their Mobile phone, it seems that some networks do have coverage out there.

If you do get any info please make sure its fairly accurate.

6 pm update! :D

So far it seems to be close between, Sam Overton (Mogrover) and Peter Antunac. Peter Antunac would have picked a few points up in the show and shine, engineering and wheel travel.

I have no news on the Show and shine nor the Wheel travel comp however points for these events have been downsized alot from previous years.

Two stages were run today, Mini-wiraba and the frame twister.

Equal First on the Frame twister was Sam and Antunac.

Equal First on Mini-Wiraba was Sam and Gonads.

Ruff is doing OK and the Lockless seems to be going well (for its first run), however he did bust a CV on the frame twister. He believes it was due to a flogging that he gave it on the Night stage.

Dave (Beebee) and Greg are doing well, they have completed every stage so far, so they shouldn't be to far of the pace.

Dobbin is doing well.

None of the Qlders have winched yet!

I will try and remember to ask how Cheezy and guts are doing, Sam has not mentioned them so i take it that they must not be going that well.

They teams are now preparing for the Mud Run. Ruff will be the 5 car threw so hopefully it won't get to dug out by then and allow him to have a good run. Sam is 19th so we hope that no one gets stuck and digs big holes!

I think Peter Antunac is running 3rd in the mud run!

Tomorrow is the All-terrain and the Rocky horror.

I will try and get hold of them after the Mud run to see how they all went!

Yes, dovetailed just for this event. A full straight style side will go on for OBC and winch challenges!

Couldn't tell you to different to what you have posted, as they were running two different stages at the same time some had finished both some had only done one, so there was nothing really in the scores to get an idea of how everyone was sitting when i left.

For me the drive of the day certainly went to the Max Traxion GQ Patrol, for something that was on the lesser side of modifications compared to some of the field it was certainly driven hard.

Looks like James in the PGS Racing entry has done some serious damage, anyone know what he broke and if he was able to repair and get back into competing?

Cheers ;)

I not long got back too. Just to add (unless i missed it) Antunec busted the front right trailing arm (or whatever you call it it in a monster truck) after trying to launch out of the last bit of the Frame Twister.

Oh yeah, and the Macquarie 4x4 GU (awesome looking rig) went over on it's left having a go. He tried to winch out of it but got a dnf for being stationary i think. Couldn't hear, the crowd was going off. I got it on tape, but no pics of that :(

Ok here goes. I've got 120 photo's from today. So i'll post some up, but if anyone wants the hi res copy's, or wanders if i got shots of a particular truck give us a holler.
