URGENT: Regulator location on HJ75 troopy

Post by evil_hitman »

Hi everyone,
I have a 1988 HJ75 Troop carrier with a 2H diesel engine. The alternator
(according to the max ellery factory workshop manual) has an external
regulator. My problem.
Well i drove out of my driveway last night heading to the doctors when
first one then the other headlight blew within 30 secs of each other. I
happened to look at a volt meter i have installed and saw 16.7 volts......
on a 12 volt system. OUCH!!!
Now i cant see any obvious location for the regulator. I am now quite
sick and stuck in bed so can't really work on the truck, cant really afford
to send it away, so need to guide a friend to unbolt it and put a new one
in.
Finally i need this fixed for Monday so i can get myself off to the
doctors again. Any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers
Matt

it should be on the passenger side guard near the front... but shouldnt the workshop manual tell you where it is? i went to buy a new regulator for the 47 troopy and found out they were $70.00 (twenty more than i had thought) so im gonna wait till next week when funds become available. hope you and the troopy get well soon.. ;)

2 of the 3 workshop manuals i have don't say where the regulator is

as it turns out, based on the workshop manuals, i have an external reg (based on the shape of the alternator casing)
However it actually is an internal reg version. DOH!!!
that is beyond my friends capabilities and i have now sent it to a workshop.

But they wont get it fixed before the weekend due to availability of parts.

oh well.

Taxi time. (don't trust i'll be well enough to safely ride my motorbike)

Thanks for everyones help.
