Zuks kick ass in Tuff Truck
Zuks kick ass in Tuff Truck
Well, just got back...
Friday night run: Tim went unreal and drove the bonus line first try. Only one to drive it first attempt and only 4 drove it. Still got worse score than some drivers that took the "chicken" track
SAM didnt do as well and was dragging around most of the track. Guru didnt make the night run as the Vit spat a welsh plug in the head and had to pull the head and cam.
Tim drove both tracks like it was a cruise in a carpark BUT 10 feet into the Mini Waraba got done for not securing the window net and penalised 150 POINTS!!!! (You only get 100 points for completing a stage without penalties....
Guru drove half way thru the log run before running out of fuel Awesome drive from a guy with little experience in an untried truck
SAM drove both courses with minimal penalties
Gonads "buggy" is near the top of the field even tho he broke a leg early in the logs but still drove the whole thing and gave the bonus a shot.
The bonus line is only worth 20 points and hardly anyone was risking it

Gone drag racing......
OK Sunday:
SAM got mud in the alternator on the mud run and it wasnt charging. Only got a short distance into both of todays courses
Guru was going really well on Rocky Horror but then broke a transfer mount. He hadnt run the All Terrain when I left...
Tim drove well thru both course but got pinged for CHOPZUKI stepping over a winch cable three times and got penalised 60 points
It goes to show the difference between wheelin on the weekend and competing. Tim lost 220 points for safety/time issues (150 for net, 60 for cable stepping and 10 for late arrival at stage). This let FAR less capable cars/drivers beat him in the results.....

well, just got back and the zuks seemed to be going real well. what can i say about gonads' sierra, its a wild monster now , i think he must have pulled about 10,000 rpm comin through the mudpit last night
the overkill twins, sam and tim both looked and did well, with tim going real well for an untested rig
but by far the coolest for me anyway was the vit. it looked great and seemed to work well. i got a heap of ideas from it to do to mine. too bad they had some engine gremlins and tire troubles.

Cmon Sam & Tim. Cough up. Where are your stories. How did you think the Zuks went? What worked what didn't? What will you change etc
Sam it's a credit to you and your team just to get the 3 Zuks up and running and it seems they were all very competitve. Well done
Tim bad luck about the penalties but from all reports you drove the hell out of the new redzook.

Unreal work by the zook drivers. Tims new rig was very nice, and did realy well even with the booty fab rhf bumpstop. If it hadnt been for the saftey points he recived, he would have been up in the points towards the top. Sam drove welll too, just had with the mud from saturday night making it pretty hard on sunday. Was good to see the zooks up there, and driving stuff that the big $$$$$ trucks were not.
Just between me and you, I actually really dig the Megatwon, but if anyone asks, I'm going to shitcan it as much as possible! :D
It was an awsum weekend. A lot of work went into all three trucks before the event. I did 18 hour days for the alast three weeks to get them ready.
Tim drove his awsum considering the seat time available. If it wasn't for the silly penalty he would have been way up in the placings. His truck worked well and is super stable.
We had a good day saturday drove all the tracks. Tried a bit too hard in the mud event and stuffed the alternator which meant we had no charging for the sunday so the winch wouldn't work and only got one chance at starting it each stage.
The Vit was finished 4.30 friday morning didn't even get driven anywhere ecxept onto the trailer. When Chuck baught it we were told it had a blown headgasket which he changed.Ended up beeing the back welsh plug underr the cam had corroded through so the head had to come off friday night and back on saturday morning to get it going. A credit to Guru and his mates as he didn't miss any events on the Saturday. The truck worked awsum and finished all the stages. He ended up coming first on the all terain challenge cours on the sunday arvo (equal first with 4 others).
So overall i think we didn't do too badly bit more seat time and developement and they will be very competitive.I think we did suprise quite a few people in the crowed as to how capable the little zooks can be.
As far as changes go. Tims i think is pretty much right just more seat time and a few little changes. Mine that was its last comp and will be sold or parted out .The Vit will be stretched a little 101 inches and 37 mtr's then seat timje and i think it will be a lot more competitive.
SAM
ps thanks to all that has helped us to get the truckes finished and up there (spazbot, dave, sean, micheal, chuck, redzook, chopzuki)

did the rigs for TT need to be road registerable? or registered?
How did Gonad's vehicle qualify? It may just be the pictures but it does not look like it would fit that criteria, mind you neither do most of the rigs pictured.
