What size thermos can I use on an MQ to replace standard viscus fan?
NOt fussed
depends on what motor you are running really - 6 cyc petty motor - 12 inch or something V8 - twins or single biggun. Don't bother with diesel but hey.
Got loads I am trying to get rid of if you want cheap - got half a dozen and got twin set ups too - beer money really. $20 each or something?

I have been told the same but can not see how just adding the clutch could help my low range cooling. I was thinking twin 12 or 14 inch thermos for mine with a switch for auto, off. That way I can turn them off when water crossing.
Anybody else got something to add to this??

In the L28 its fine to run the clutch hub fan.
The only reason u would change it would be to get a little more power out of the motor as the fan draws a little bit of power.......
L28s usually cool fine at all speeds cept flogging the nuts off of em.
The SD33 diesel, however, Does get very warm offroad as the fan clutch isnt drawing enough air at slow speeds and lowe revs for it to cool.
If in the diesel, id be running the fan hub as it will cool all the time cept driving in low range at low revs etc....
AND get a 16 inch thermo for the front of the radaitor to help the motor out when offroad, as u can turn them on and off and they will be drawing full air all the time.
I have TWIN 16 inch thermos on mine now. IM running 308 V8 buti found that at low speeds and idle the fan wasnt drawing enough air, so i have got a thermo on the front....
The reson i stuffed the main fan off alltogether is i wanted more power back in the motor, and SH1T IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE
So i have a full cowled davies craig job in there now.....
All in all i have dramas with cooling in the V8, but it cools better on the 2 thermos than the engine fan and i have more power...... My radiator needs another core

I have a 3 core i mine which is only about 6 months old. I also have bad cooling problems while at low revs or slow low range driving. I might have a look at your truck if i see you at TTC.
A lot of people have advised me not to do it but I cant see why not. Are your thermos next to each other or is one on the front and one on the back.

here in the philippines. we usually add a fan in front of the condenser of the a/c to increase the cooling. but for the engine, the clutch fan will suffice.
if your problem is cooling your ute. maybe best to check the condition of your clutch fan. if might need silicon oil.

Yeah they are an awesome fit. It is a P40 radiator because the inlet and outlet are bigger than the L28 radiator and matched the Chev hoses. It is a standard 3 core job, it is fine up to about 100km/h then starts to get a bit warm, so I'm going to put some bonnet vents on.

Im gunna get another core put into my radiator for that little bit of help.... ive tried lots of combinations of cooling.......

yeh all the radiators are the same dimensions, just the filler and top and bottom hose locations, but this wil have no bearing on the fans as per the above pics
