where to find the tacho input on a GQ dash...

Post by grazza »

Hi,
Can anyone tell me where to find the place on the dash/intrument pod/fuse box where I can feed a tacho signal to drive the tacho in the instrument pod.
I have a Haynes manual but cant understand where the tacho wiring terminates, or where to find the wire in the engine bay which picked up the signal from the old TB42 (running 1UZ-FE now)

I have just found out that I can get a tacho signal from the 1UZ-FE from one of the igniters, the one with 5 wires (the fifth being a tacho output)

I am also hoping that the adjustment pot on the back of the tacho may enable me to calibrate the tacho for the V8 (4-cyl) signal (worth a try)

the wire is near the resistor. i will look up its colour tomorrow. i am unsure if you can adjust to suit 6 - 8 cyl with a pot. you can buy a signal changer for $50 odd from jaycar and build it to suit that multiplication factor.

cheers bru
