Back seats for space cab

Post by Dusty Rover »

Hi all. I currently own a 2000 V6 single cab Rodeo with about 100,000 kmls and have just been offered the chance to swap this vehicle with a 1998 turbo diesel space cab with 90,000 klms at no change over cost. I would ideally like a dual cab so I can take mates off road but, if I could legally put a seat with seat belts in the back I would prefer the space cab. I have heard of it being done but I am not to sure on the legalities. Can anyone help me as this deal is to good to pass up! ( And no I don't care how squished it might be in the back as I am the driver     !!!!)

Thanks,

Steve

not sure where you are but most body building places can do it i looked in to this a while ago when i had my 2wd spacecab it was going to cost a grand to have it done which included seat being made up and a mod plate pretty expensive for what looks like an easy fit most of the holes are already there aswell my quotes was from kcf rallysport in redcliffe briz and from caboolture motor body builders

hope that helps :D

Hi,

I bought a 1997 Rodeo dual cab in 2000. I was told at the time that if I wanted rear seats installed in a space cab that the dealership would have it done. They said the cost would be $780 or there abouts. However they were only rated for kiddies. Something like 35kg. I know the factory Hilux ones were rated for adults though.

Thanks for the info. I have found a 97 dual cab but it has 220,000 klms on the clock. Just how reliable are the 2.8td around this amount of k's?

Thanks,
Steve.

you could do a search on how reliable the 2.8td is and the pros and cons its been discussed a couple off times but as for our rodeo has 230 000 on it with no probs and my dads is pushing 480 000 and is all original so they are pretty good
