Rim offset ??????
Ok I know it's probibly been asked before but........ I bought a set of 32 x 11.5 bfg muddies (second hand) with 15 x8 sunraisers these came off a patrol so im quessing the offset is wrong if the paj seeing as the tyres rub on the bumper. What is the difference in offset ??????? I searched and found alot of info (to much) a staight forward answer would help.

When I bought my rims my tyre dealer told me Pajero offset is +10mm, Patrol offset is zero and Toyota offset is -23mm.
I bought 16" ROH steel rims (Sunraysia look-alike) with zero offset, and the 285/75-16 tyres haven't scrubbed yet - and they're only just inside the guards.
Your rims may have come off a Patrol, but were they right for a Patrol? It's difficult to measure offset accurately with tyres on the rim, but I've done OK measuring bare rims - can you get a decent measurement?
I'm guessing the outside edge scrubs when you turn? What sort of lift do you have?
Cheers,
Scott

Stock nh with the bars cranked as much as they can go tyres are just about level with the out flares I have realised my drivers side torsion bar is "soft" as under hard left turns onroad the tyre scraps but not on right turns ........going to have to do something about that but atm these tyres are just for play.....will post some pics soon.

Ok, My car is a 96 Nj swb pajero, Ive wound up the front tortion bars about 2.5" and cut the bump stops 15mm.still left with 2" down travel.I have a 43mm rear spring lift and all with standard shocks.
My tyres are MTRs 32"x11.5 on speedy rims 15x8 offset class on the boxes were 4runner/Navara/mitsu.
Havnt noticed any rubbing
Hope this helps

lucky u got 35mm body lift over me to begin . u cut upper or lower bump stops? ..... looks as if I want to run these tyres I'll have to go change rims to a +10 offset or more or a 2"body lift which seems to be the better option atm my suspention is still stock (shocks as well) with the bars cranked up

Hi....I have just got some 285.x.75. BFG MTR,s..( 33 x 11.5) on G.U. NISSAN rims ....they fit perfect and dont hit anywere...plenty of room.
My paj is .GLX with tjm flares and the tyres dont protrude at all. My tortion bars have been raised about 3cm from standed to compensate for a winch and bullbar ....every thing else is standard except for ome shocks

how was the factory body lift done?? & did they change the short (4x) stick ...reason is if I do a 50mm body lift I know from reading that I'll have too modify my stick so it doesnt hit the consol wondering if the stick in factory lifted is the same or what???

I'm getting more & more confused . I've had varying answers from many people, so hopefully you Mits guys will put me on the right track .
Am looking for a 2nd set of rims/tyres,(muddies) for my Paj. Have an NL LWB GLS with OME suspension, aprox 40mm lift. Have been told the following;
1. Only GU Nissan rims will fit, Cruiser offset 2 much.
2. Cruiser rims are better than Nissan rims.
3. Rims no bigger than 16x7.
4. 16x8 is much better
5. 265/75/16 is max size
6. 285/75/16 will fit no worries
7. Etc, etc etc.
Cutting to the chase; I do not want to have to do any modifications at all. My gut feel is 265/75/16, (31's?) muddies. Rim size/type is the PITA decision at the moment. (BTW, do have a ECB Bullbar)
PLEASE HELP Guys & gals, as I'm going crazy.
Cheers

Yes, you'll always hear conflicting stories.
Cruiser rim offset is too wrong. It will increase your track by more than two inches, place additional load on your steering components and extend the tyres beyond the GLS flares. Plenty of people do it, I wouldn't.
Patrol rims are closer to Paj offset and modify track by less than one inch. This is the offset I'm running, and my tyres are pretty much in line with my guards. I need a broom handle to prove I'm "legal."
Your standard rims should be 16x7", which will take 265/75-16 tyres, which are approximately 32" tall.
Most 285/75-16 tyres (nominally 32.8" x 11.2") are rated by the manufacturer for a minimum rim width of 8". Some manufacturers (such as ProComp, from memory) rate their 285/75-16 down to a 7" wide rim. Plenty of people run 285/75-16s on 7" wide rims, I won't.
Because your NL came with the factory bodylift (somewhere between 20mm and 40mm, depending on who you ask - Mitsubishi told me 30mm) you should be able to clear 33's with your suspension lift.
Free advice isn't worth what you pay for it.
Good luck,
Scott

Thanks heaps Scott.
Was also told Nissan Navara rims are pretty close as well. Anyway have been quoted $575 for 16x8 white Sunnies (x5) which doesn't seem too bad. In regard to muddies, do not want to spend heaps & looked at the Monoform Muddies; $120 per tyre, 275/70/16, $1175 in total.
Whilst I appreciate the Monoforms are no BFG, Coopers etc, & have had various comments, good & bad, they will probably do the job I require. Was a little concerned about tyre width, but you have eleveated my concern Scott, especially by going 16x8's. Did a few calculations, re profile & 275/70 will give me aprox 7mm extra height from my current 265/70 A/T's, which hopefully wont throw speedo out that much. Anyway guys, am I going down the right track?
Cheers

Hi Allan
I don't know the offset of Nissan Navara rims, so I wouldn't like to comment.
For comparison, my rims are white Mullins (aka ROH) steelies with zero offset, for which I paid $95 each early last year.
In terms of extra height calculations, check Monoform's website for specifications. Their "285/75-16" tyres are listed as 34" tall, because they add so much rubber to the donor carcass. Monoforms also have very stiff sidewalls, so need lower pressures than normal to achieve useful "bagging." That aside, those that use them seem to like them.
Cheers,
Scott

If your not in any hurry then shop around because it can save you heaps....I was quoted for the new coopers stt 265x75 $297 each and $95 each for 16x7 rims and had to wate about 4 weeks for the tyres to arive.
I rang around and picked up the GU nissan rims for $50 each and the 285x75 BFG MTRs with about 16mm of tread fitted and ballanced for $180 each. If you mention $CASH$ it helps a lot. I am more than happy with the rims and tyres.

ok I've mucked about a bit did some panel beating to the inner edge of my bull bar & "twigged" up torsion bar some more (no down travel anymore )....went for a soft run on the weekend and didnt touch the tyres but I dont think I did a full flex ...just going to have to wait till i go down to ormeu again to really test it out

Had rims tyres fitted the other day. Guess what; a few dramas
Sunnie rims with Pajero offset didn't fit over calipar. (Bigger brakes on NL) Tried 16x8 ROH with offset between Cruiser & Patrol & fitted fine. Acouple of pics.
BTW, the monoform muddies are noisey on road . Off road test next week
Cheers
