pathfinder fuel trouble

got a mate who has a pathfinder late 80 early 90 model and when he get on a steep hill when we go wheelin she seems to have trouble gettin fuel and stalls any ideas? apparently it is common in them?

I never had a problem with mine. Perhaps he has a dirty fuel filter or he is going out with not enough petrol in the tank. The Pathy tanks do not have baffles in them.
