ya...if ya stick ya head in between the axle and the ridgid bumpstop you'll have a breif variation in the amount of compression..it will only work once tho..

Thanks guys.

Cheezy and V8Grunt
Although I'd like the pneumatic ones, I can't justify the cost. Although I may use this as an excuse to go down to Milanco and have a chat to them. I've been pretty impressed with some of the stuff on Crusty's ute.

V8Grunt
I'll have a chat also to Syd as I had planned to pay him a visit this week anyway to discuss high displacement leaf spring bushes and see what he could do.

I would have come down to see you today but you probably would have been closed as I knew that you were sponsered by a bumpstop company and was going to ask you about them. No need now.

Fathillbilly
Although I like the idea, I need these to pass a DOT inspection so I'm looking for something as mainstream as possible. Thanks for the idea though.

Thanks again guys!

PS Punchy
If I want to make the bumpstop more variable, should I just belt my head few times with the handle of my hi-lift to soften it up.....Punchy style? :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger:

bumpstop

Post by derangedrover »

you could try a AEON rubber spring.
They are used in trailers and as overload springs in vehicles.

Cheers

Is AEON a brandname? Is this aftermarket stuff or factory?

rubber thingys

Aeon I think is the product name.
They look like a bumpstop off the front of an 80 series (sort of)
Just a progressive bumpstop, but they give you a spring rate/travel specs if you want to use them as a spring.

Ill have a look for the brochure thats lying around somewhere.....

Or 4WD monthly has an add in it somewhere, I think North shore 4wd centre, is fitting them into the rear of patrols/cruisers for overloaded tourers

That might be the company that I had email contact with a few weeks ago on this subject. I can't remember their name but to they have a photo of a red/maroon patrol wagon in their ad? I think the truck is owned by Hema the map co.
