Im looking for a good swb suspensions set up.
Im looking for a 60mm spring lift in the rear.(either using a 1 inch LWB spring lift if there is one or a 60mm swb set up)
And shocks with good down travel.
I was thinking of rancho shockers (rs5000 i think there called)would like 8.5-9 inches of down travel.
Does anybody know if rancho or any other brand does this for a NJ swb?

If you are interested, I have a set of good LWB coils that I replaced recently. I work in Bayswater & I'd be happy to sell them cheaply
92 NH Pajero, MQ Patrol 50mm lift. One has custom rust, dents & rattles, the other has a blown engine.

thanks rhymus but I have LWB springs in now but only got a 43mm lift ,I was going to put a coil spring spacer in but no one makes them for a pajero :cry: So looking for another way

Try Nissan coil spacers, or even nissan springs for that matter. They will fit a Gen 2. Standard Nissan springs give about a 2" lift in a LWB so probably more in a shorty.

I agree with Hekta. Nissan springs are the go. Just I was trying to unload the springs that I have in my garage. I have the Nissan springs in my LWB and the ride & lift are good.

i fitted std gu rear coil springs to my nl td and achieved a lift of 4". would lift a swb higher i would think ?

Which model Nissan springs? I had my 4b specialist check if any other 4x4 makes would fit but he said none did. It would be great if they do :armsup:

I used GQ springs, I would imagine GU are the same, maybe heavier from what Cookie says... just check 'em out. Measure the diameters.

Hekta you actually fitted standard GQ rear coils ??
And you got a 2" lift ??
If Cookie got a 4" lift from GU coils then they must be stiffer after all a GU is a heavier truck so it makes sense.

I actually used 2" GQ King Springs (KDRR-43) not realising that Standard Patrol springs would lift it anyway :oops: , and got a 4" lift.
I wound the torsion bars up as far as I could get and it doesn't look too bad, little bit downhill but Jabbers look downhill anyway. :)

Thanks guys, thinking I might try Nissan springs but a bit concerned about the down travel , does anybody know if it has ok stretch.
Would an after market "soft rated "spring help to give more down travel?(with the correct shockers)

I too don't have any downwards travel issue with super heavy duty 320lb 3" lift GQ coils (standard Paj lwb = 180lb, standard GQ = 220lb, GQ lifted coils = 270lb).

OK then :) down travel seems to be all good but do I need to do something to keep from the coils comming out?
and does anybody have idea what kind of height would I gain from standard GQ coils in my Shorty. I dont really want more than 3 inchs.
Also would it be better for me to use a soft rated coil cos my car is lighter?

MY GU REAR COILS WERE FROM A 98 2.8TD. STD HEIGHT. 16MM WIRE AND 450MM LONG.
I AM CONSIDERING REPLACING THEM WITH SWB GQ REAR SRINGS AS I BELIEVE THEY WILL GIVE ME THE 2" LIFT I WAS ORIGINALLY LOOKING FOR.
I AM A BIT CONCERNED ABOUT LONG TERM RELIABILITY OF THE 4" LIFTED REAR (UNI JOINTS, BUSHES ETC). I HAVE INSTALLED GEARBOX PACKERS TO LOWER FRONT UNI JOINT, BUT THE TRANSFER CASE LEVER IS SQUEEKING AND RUBBING(VERY ANOYING).
I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR RIDE, WHILST BEING A BIT FIRMER UNLOADED, IT IS REALLY GOOD WITH THE CAMPING GEAR IN AND THE TRAILER ON THE BACK.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE FREE LENGTH OF THE SWB GQ REAR COILS ?
