Bundys 22R Dead

Post by doddyz »

HI I have a 1986 2.4l petrrol bundy 22r that has blown the head.

I eventually want to convert it ny using the commodore v6.

Just for now I want to put in another 22r just to keep my going for another few months.

Where can I get another carbie 22r cheap in good condition?

Will the 22r 2.4 litre Efi Hilux engine bolt straight in. Will it match my gearbox and engine mounts etc.

Cheers

Any info would be much appreciated

You could try Chemiweld or similar, could work for a couple of months.

22re

Post by toysuzi »

hello doddyz

hows it going ??

yes the 22re will be a strait swap over
will bolt in without any mounting convertions

but you will have to spend alot of time (OR) pay somebody
to do the wire harness convertion for you

but i wouldnt go to all that trouble
to gain another 12kw (carby 74kw efi 86kw)
if your going to convert it to v6 Bommadore at a later stage

try blowing out your carby with compessed air 1st
or reeve the engine hard place a rag over the carby throat n chock it then remove before it cuts out
then reeve it out again repeat untill shes clean
if that doesnt workout
just get your carby rebuilt $265.00 from most carby specialist

with the head gasket try to re-torque your head bolts and use some chemie-weld as tuff mav pointed out
you could remove your thermostat

but without doing the job properly i wouldnt drive long distances
just keep it local & under 80kms
otherwise you will end up spending $1500 on the 22r to get it reliable and then rip it out for the v6 con

maybe just buy a cheep shitter n sell your gear

and save your money for the v6 swap $3000-6000 depending on how much you can do yourself
