GQ CVs and AXLES
GQ CVs and AXLES
A mate of mine has a 90 Maverick long wheel base that had a 4.2 petrol motor in it originaly he has since changed it to a 6.5 turbo diesal still running the stock gearbox and diff ratios he runs 35 inch centapeeds on 15 x 8 and has a 4inch lift two questions
number 1 he wants to change his diff ratios to higher ones ie taller than the standard 3.9s dose anyone no if nissan ever made something taller that will fit in the original diffs maybe 3.6 or higher
number two he is constantly braking ever cvs or axles dose anyone if something is avaiable like the Warn hub fuses used by the jeep guys somthing cheap and easy to replace or can you machine of some of the teeth in the locking hubs to make them the weak piont at the moment Russle at Opposite Lock who makes the Brenchnell cvs dosent have any more they all went to cars for this years Out back Challenge any info would be great

the 4.8 GU auto has a 3.5 ratio but he would have to change the whole housing at the rear as its the H260 , then he could just fit the whole front and that should solve his CV problems as well, easy job, just need a new steering arm from www.wizardperformance.com.au as the ends are different on GU and GQ but everything else fits straight in with no mods.
[well maybe depends on the 4.8 brakes but the GU 2.8 diffs go straight in]
shane
or get cheezy CV's

mate,
i have just stripped down my front end to do a full re-grease, CV's included, the wheel bearing nuts are about 53 mm, i bought a tube socket from my local auto parts place, and it measures in at 55mm, it does the job, as it needs to clear the axle,
as for the bearing part numbers, i am unaware of as i checked mine and they were fine, all they needed was a re-grease,
good luck.

whoa not only were my wheel bearings f#$ked but I broke my first CV ... well the inside of the cv bell was all mashed potato ...I didn't hear anything explode
now my biggest problem is the bell where the cv bell sits into is all burred up from all the metal fragments spinning around inside there ... what do you's do when this happens? new diff?

Clean it up and as long there is no distortion of the bell and there is no fouling of the CV which I wouldn't imagine there to be she'll be apples.
I would only be concerned if a bearing suface was scored if it isn't a bearing surface and just a housing for oil/grease/cover than it doesn't matter as long as all the shizza is outta it.

At least I dont make a product and spit them out all over the place for the general public to test for me and then not warranty the product.
I find the probs with the product fix the probs and TEST, TEST, TEST them, when Im happy I will sell the product to whoever wants it with confidenance. SO BACK OFF.
And yes the CV's are almost done and will be on sale in 2 weeks on a change over basis to keep the cost down. The CV's are tuff and the axles will brake b4 the CV so we are doing custom axles and yes the centre will brake b4 the CV or Axles, but there is always a week point in any drive line.

NOW ABLE TOO SAY WHAT I WANT WITHOUT FEAR OF LOOSING SALES.

it would be better if you could buy the whole axle complete as the CV's are stronger in the GU's and they fit straight in with a modified steering arm.
will be a couple of inches wider though but that is a good thing.
what wreckers was it at ?

its the axel and cv that I bought ...
got it from partington 4wd wreckers ... I just want what ever to fit in so I can get it back on the road ... I need wheels ... so modified steering arms isn't a good choice
