Tyre pressure guage

Post by RUFF »

Anyone bought a decent Tyre Pressure guage that reads right down to 0psi correctly? Ive had a few different ones and they were either unreliable in there readings or just fell apart. Prefere one in a case as well.
Buying it on line would also be an advantage.

That longacre one above is excellent. I've had one of these for years and its still reliable. You can get different gauges on them for improved acuracy in 0-15 and 0-30psi. The only problem with them is the glass is fragile, but once I broke mine I replaced it with thin polycarbonate and its been perfect since. The bleed off valve is great also.

They seem ok, but are not durable.

Ive used these before but have found them inacurate as well. It only takes a little bit of crap to get inside them and they dont read correctly.

I noticed on the Longacre site thet they also sell replacement lenses. Im looking at the Liquid filled 0-15 PSI one for $49-95us Just waiting on a reply as to wether they will ship one to AUS.

If the replacement lense are glass again I wouldn't bother. They're too thin. As a guide I ran about 10-16psi and it was accurate. You can get these locally from Revolution racegear as stated above, but I think it'll endup costing more than the price you have.

Sound like a good one Tony ,Being liquid filled helps to absorb shocks ?

(PS the padded pouch sounds nice to ) :)

I have a $30 KINCHROME digital guage.

Reads in 0.5psi increments

Not 100% sure on its accuracy, but it is consistent

Used to live in the glovebox of the 40, so it must be fairly tough ;)

Bought a VDO compact from ARB, consistently inaccurate - always reads 10 psi higher than actual.

For durability I would go the digital - very compact and solid-state, no precision mecahicals to go wrong and they dont cary over time.

These are the guys who make mine:

I have been using this for years but you may want one with finer resolution:

Have you considered people like blackwoods for a normal pressure gauge and then make a hose to suit.

larger face will give you better range and accuracies
