How far can you go before you start binding steering linkages?? Im guessing about an inch??

I did this on my SJ410 LWB but I assume it will be similar, mine was round 22mm, bit less than an inch. I get a very slight rubbing of drag link and tie bar on extreme articulation.

U guys didnt have a problem cuz with high steer, you tierod and draglink are moved appart, If you are spring under they rub together, if u move the diff forward too far without moving the box

No sorry, it has made way for a new tie rod and I use a vit power steering box which has a straight pitman arm. But I figure the front axle is close to, or right on 50 mm forward now.

I would drill the correct hole, then weld up and grind clean the old hole/s.

so by redrilling the plates you move the axle forward, so it increases wheel base. so correct em if i am wrong, 1 is it legal in qld ? and by increasing, it improves ride and handling a bit, and makes it a little more comfertable in climbing.
or am i barking up wrong tree.

don't know about QLD, but its not likely to be legal anywhere.
It's done for those reasons you mentioned, but also mostly for firewall clearance for bigger tyres. Longer springs is better, but this is cheaper, and easier.
Mines forward 22mm and handling is fine, climbing is better, too.

i guess it wouldn't be the easiest of mod to spot, legallity wise
but the only concern is how far forward until the drive shaft runs out of spare, and how does it afect steering , thinking about moving it 25 mm

Mine had just enough room left on the front driveshaft.\
I did not need a driveshaft spacer, untill I moved my t-case back 20mm, then I had a mate make a 10mm spacer up, all seems ok, been like that for over a year and 2 Adventure Tours.
22mm on mine was exactly half way between the original hole and the edge of the metal on the diff mount, seems sensible to me.
The Tie bar and drag link just touch on full compression, so any more, you may have hitting?
I have not noticed any negative steering issues, but remember all mods change handling, especially when added to other mods, so be careful till you are used to it.
