IM(very)HO these are soo much better than hilux it's not funny.
They're cheap
They're plenty strong
They're everywhere
They've got 4.6's - whixj is sweet for road use with 35-36's and a S3 rockhopper.
They're offset
They already have crossover steering
It seems that most wreckers sell 'em with the DOUBLE CARDAN rear driveshaft if it was a SWB
Jim and Mick haven't busted anything with them.
The rear can be plenty shaved, and I think this is very necessary.
The front is pretty small aready.
If you really must have stoopid axles in your sierra, they are the stoopid axles of choice.

Tell 'em there from a hilux and charge "one million dollars"

Ive got some spares around here too
Interested to here the MQ master fits in a sierra nicely, good to know
Mq diffs would be my choise for a sierra
If i do my diff swap to cruiser diffs later this year.... I know where to post that my SOA ARB airlocked front and rear MQ diffs with 4.6s are for sale

from what i hear Hilux diffs are stronger than everything else. Or maybe those who have Lux diffs are just better drivers than those with other diffs
No, seriously, the MQ diffs are a good simple swap for a SPUA rig but would be more difficult than hilux for a SPOA setup due to the front drivers side spring perch being cast.
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
The rear is a sh1t load stronger than the rear of a Hilux........
The front MQ diff is as strong at least and id say its only as strong in the housing...
MQ componants like Cvs and centres would be far strong then lux also...........
Cvs are bigger in MQs ( MQ cvs are the same size as GQ CVs ) just different spline count....
they are designed for a LWB that weighs 2.4 tonne that is legally allowed to tow another 2 tonne.....
Hilux are only like 1400kgs and cant tow as much either....... Patrol stuff would be stronger.
just not as suitable with the front diff at least......

Remember that LSD's are relatively available and unlike crappy hilux ones actually do something.
Range of lockers available - Air, LSD, auto (lockright/lokka etc) cig and of course Haultech traction control. Anything can be locked up these days... even ferozas.
Most are 4.6, but 4.3 and 4.8 are also pretty common.
Tough. I think tougher than GQ - hasnt got the reputation of early Gq's cracking on corrugations.
Be great for a sierra or a vitara conversion with sierra tcase The rear offset in a vitara alone might be an issue.
I think scrapper in Melb has some more diffs and of course screwy always has a few MQ's floating around

U could allways use a Navara(centered pumpkin) rear for a vitara
Same housing and centre front and rear
