Hey guys,
Can any of you shed some comments or advice on putting a set of rears up front on a HJ61. Basically i want to make it flex better, but achieve that outcome on a poor man's budget. I also need to try and do something with the back end.
Also does anyone know of any alternative and compatible springs to use from other vehicles. Another idea i was toying with was just getting a longer main leaf made up for the current spring packs and getting some leaves removed...but i don't know if that is the best way of going about things.
Points to note:
Im only running 33's
I have a 90 degree shackle angle allround
I am gonna have a shot at fabbing up my own drop shackles
I already have some 2" extended shackles fabbed up to put in
Please don't burn me and tell me to search cause i've tried and can't find anything as specific as what i have asked above. However i'll have my flame suit on standby just in case!!!
Many thanks
Kameron

60 series "Rears up front"
Moderators: toaddog, Elmo, DUDELUX
cruiser spring lengths are listed here http://www.off-road.com/tlc/faq/faq.txt if thats any help. 75s rears are longer than 60s rear.
If you extend your shackles i guess you will drop the front of the spring slightly which will over so slightly reduce the amount the diff is pushed forward. But most probably not enough?????
So how would i go putting my current rears up front at a length of 1160mm. That will give me a change in length of 102mm.
And getting a set of 75 series rears to put in the back at a length of 1282. That will give a length change of 122mm in the rear.
What is the difference between the 'P' and 'W' as far as 75 series go? Apparently 'P' is: 'Square bodied pickup with removable steel top'
I can only assume 'W' is wagon i.e. troop carrier???
Thanks....

you also need to get the measurements for pin to eye of the long side of the springs as this will determine how far forward and backwards your axles will move. You may find that your wheelbase is going to increase considerably which may be great for my 40 but is that what you want for your 60? these measurements will also tell you where you need to put the new spring mounts/hangers.

If i wanted any beter flex, id just buy something with coils...

Leaves will flex just as much as coils dude. You just need to set them up properly and run the right ones
