Maxxis Creepy Crawler

G'day every one.

I'am looking at getting a set of 37x12.5 Maxxis Creepy Crawler. And i was just wondering what people think of them and are they any good.

Yeh i had a set of 35x12.5 Creepys, and i luved em.
There were arsome in the bush, incredible traction at low speed "didnt need the flog the truck to make them grip.
I had fitted Rockhoppers in my truck and was looking for a low speed traction tyre, they were everything i was looking for.
Unfortunatly i was misinformed about the rim size that the creepy sould be fitted on.
After having trouble with the tyre at highway speeds(Balance and wheel hop) i found out that the 35 12.5/16 due to its incredible side wall strenght was not suited to a 8 inch wide rim and the tread crowned heaverly.
and after shelling out the big bucks, i was not in a position to upgrade to 16x10 inch rims.
So sadly i sold them!
But with the info around now and making the right choice first time i would definately recommend them.
P.S i belive that the 37 with a taller side wall fits and behaves O.K on a 8 inch rim.

16 x 8's run just fine i have to say

tyres run good. however need to run them at 10 psi or lower to get them to bag out and get serious traction. Strong sidewalls but.

they actually run almost like a radial on road (except for the noise) and better in the bush.

bandit 1, if you're in melb, you should come out with us and you can see how the tyres go first hand

and yes ive heard good things about these tyres and a few mud beers boys are looking for them shortly..... reasnobly prices to i believe

killalux just got a set on his lux, so far he they seem to be really good. cost about $407ea for the 37x14x15

Thank's for the invite YankeeDave, I live the other side of Bendigo. but i am always coming down to melb so i might give you a PM in a few weeks i am getting a 4 inch lift in two weeks and I will be wanting to try that out.

I ran mine and loved them - and now yankee dave has them!

AWESOME tyre - just a bicth to get them to bag. Same construction as Simex's so sidewalls are major tough(suit rocks!).

They hold really well onto rims at even sub 10psi - I managed to run them at 8 in ruts and they ate it.

Expect a larger cleaning bill on your car as they self clear incredibly quickly - so you'll be wearing more bush in no time. BUY A SET!

I like them so far,

except have found that even at 12 psi they look like they have 35psi in them.

only start to bag out and get good traction at 10psi or lower.

so next time in the bush i'll try 9 or 10 psi.

dont have b.locks, am considering simex tubes though

been running them for nearly two years now and cant fault them.
maxxis will have a new one out later this year as well called the trepador which looks even more impressive .

If this is them they look a lot more closed tread.

I think i like the look of the creepy's more but time will tell I guess.

Yip I love mine too. Quiet on the road, stick to rocks really well. However they do seem to be wearing fast.
Also if you get a hole in the sidewall I'd bet you could drive home on it!!!!!

Ive got secondairs on my 8" rims and want to use these for offroad only if possible. I know a guy whos got 35's (KK's) on 8's . Havent spoke to him yet, but all seems ok , from what ive heard.

Take it from me, the Creepy Crawler is a Arsome Tyre, but i am also trying to help people not make the mistakes i made which at the time cost me a lot of $$$. I choose the Creepy at the time when no one else i new had them. and the distributer, new to the tyre and had no idea of the problems on 8 inch rims.
For years and years we have been fitting 35x12.5 inch radials and bais tyres to 8 inch rims, and due to the supple side walls they fit OK.
But the Creepy Crawler in 35 has the toughest sidewall of any tyre i have owned or seen. Even the USA write up talks about them fitted to Military Hummers and being able to take a bullet from 500 yards and still drive out of the Danger Zone!
Now due to this sidewall construction the 35x 12.5 inch tyre fitted to a 8 inch rim the outer edge of the Tread is pulled outward and heaverly crowns the centre of the tyre, making road manners to you destination quite bad.
Now fitted to the recomended 10 inch rim keeps the tread flat on the road and sidewall square to the edge of the tread.

But for those of you who dont care at all for road manners at leagal speeds go for your life and fit to 8 inch rims and never look back!

Loved my Creepys for short Day Trips but went for Radial Claws for further weekend trips.
