banana shackles

Post by STUMPY »

i'm looking at buying some boomerang shackles from sky.
they're good cos you can run rear springs in the front a hilux and not have to move the front hangers forward and they don't hit the body mount. they come with pins and spacers.
they cost $60us about $80 aus
and frieght is $60 us, it'll be cheaper they more we order.
if anyone is interested in ordering these, or anything else, let me know. will be ordering next week.

too lazy, plus i'm getting other things from them.

i thought about it and it broke down like this.
for me to make them.
steel $40
cutting disks $20
time about 4-5 hours

laser cutting
steel $40
cutting $80

plus i need to buy the bolts and turn up some spacers.

for me to buy them from sky by myself it'll cost about $150 aus
if anyone else wants stuff, it'll come down in price.

cheers joel

ok, so here's the deal

i'm getting 4 pairs of banana shackles made up.
they are laser cut and will be ready this week.
for a pair of shackles (ie 2 shackles)
grease pins
nylock nuts
spacers and spring washers

they will be $145 a pair which is cheap.
they're will only be 3 sets for sale cos i'm keeping a set so PM me if your keen. i can paint them if you want aswell at no cost.
at this price, i'm not making any money, it was just cheaper for me to get 4 sets cut instead of 1.

cheers joel

the problem with puttin your rear leafs up front is the extra length of the spring gives u a a really layed back shackle angle(the bottom is further back than the top) / like that <-- but more ahah.. , this is good for ride and flex, but it causes a normal straight shackle to hit the body mount jusy behind where the shackle hanger hole is in the chasis.. some people cut the body mount, but banana shackles are a better solution..

you can however resolve it and still use your snake racing shackles if u move the front hanger forward at the same time!.. dropped front crossmember from snake is the best option here..

exactly right slayer. i had snake racing ones in my 4runner but the hangers were dropped and moved forward 1.5 inches. i bought the roc70y and the hangers are dropped but not moved forward.
