HJ61 Master Cylinder

Hi All,

Newbie to your board, and just dropping in for some help from abroad! I need the Toyota part # for a master cylinder on a 1989 HJ61 Wagon.

Our dealers here in Canada do not have access to any RHD info... and I am hoping one of you fellas might be able to help me out!

Do yourself a favour, and get an 80 series master and booster from a wreck.....they are bigger and give better braking power, with less pedal effort...then a set of minitruck callipers go straight on the front with a small trim of the backing plate :-)
The minitruck should have thesame size pistons as the 80 series (45mmx4 each calliper)

Been thinkin bout this for mine. Just waitn on the $$ first.

A minitruck in the states is a v6 lowlux....so the v6 4 runner calliper (45x4) here in oz fits on a 60/70 series disc and calliper mounts...i had them on my 60 series with 35's and it pulled up real good!
Another not so powerful calliper setup is off a later than 90 hj75 or hilux after 90...they have 35x4 pistons.
The std calliper has 2x22, and 2x35 pistons

I'm running 35's too with the SOA which is why Im looking for better braking ability.... which model 4runner would this be??? I'm have no idea of 4runner models thats all.

The 1990 and later 4 runner that came with a v6 and no resin roof, but all steel...those models have 45mm piston callipers, and they bolt straight onto the mounts. From memory, you then need 75 series pads 1990 and later.
To run these you need the 80 series master yl or the pedal will travel too far and the booster will run out of boost...get the 80 booster with it as it is bigger aswell...

any, but 1990-1994 models have thesame 4 stud setup for the master cyl, so 60 will fit 80 will fit 70....later have 2 studs on the master.

i got hold of a set of these 4 runner callipers the other night

the seem to have roughly 39mm pistons in them not 45

still bigger than the quad 35's

Ok, if the runna was not a v6, then i dont know what brakes they have, but the v6 runs 45mmx4 v6 ones should look like they have sort of what looks like webbings on the outside surfaces of the calliper...they look a bit different to the std calliper, longer and wider too.

That looks like them....did they came off a v6 runner?? or a diseasal?? (They also look like late 75 series callipers)
Anyway, if you have 45mm pistons, they r v6.

ok so its a low pinion...is it coil??...that rules out the independant v6 runner.
d say its hilux, they have 35mm pistons too....so they are thesame as late 75 callipers

k ive got both late 75 and these callipers now... im just going to have to pull a piston out of each
